A few days before Halloween our ward held a Halloween Carnival at the park. Bryce had fun playing the carnival games and doing the cake walk. We didn't stay a really long time, because there was a World Series game on-ha. Also I still feel like we are at that kind of uncomfortable stage of being new to the ward, hopefully we will eventually make some friends and feel like we fit in a little bit more, but it was still good to go.
We started a Halloween Village. Bryce was super excited about picking out some pieces, but he also couldn't wait to set up some of the Christmas Village pieces so it became a combination of both.
We carved a pumpkin. We had purchased 3, but two of them went bad before-it seems this happens every year to us, we just don't have good luck with pumpkins. Pumpkin carving has lost a lot of it's appeal at our house. The older two are pretty much over it, Bryce still wants to do it but he refuses to touch the pumpkin guts or pieces, so he mainly just watches and supervises while someone carves his for him. (SENSORY FOR SURE)
At school we had Halloween parties and a parade. Bryce dressed up as Bulbasaur-a character off of Pokemon. He didn't last very long wearing his shell but he did at least wear it into the school and for the parade.
My team at work went as the emotions from INSIDE OUT. I think we did a pretty good job pulling it off. I made us all name badges to wear over our other ones for the day. My character was ANGER.
Halloween night we invited some friends and family over for dinner and home made root bear and then we went out trick or treating. It was great to be in a neighborhood where there were so many kids out participating. There were literally hundreds and hundreds of people out. It was a fun environment and a lot different than the one we came from. Bryce dressed up as Scooby Doo to go trick or treating. It's probably a good thing, because it was pretty cold, and it was a little warmer than his other costume. (We found that Scooby Doo costume at a Yardsale a few weeks previous and Bryce had insisted on getting it-we had to cut the legs a little shorter to make it fit him-and he was super excited for it). Landon and I dressed up as bank robbers and Chloe painted her face like a skeleton. Before the night was over Bryce had shed his costume. He can't handle being dressed up for too long-part of his sensory stuff. We had a great night with our family and friends and can't wait for next year.
Happy Halloween!!!
