15 Year Anniversary and Baseball Game

On Wednesday of last week Landon and I celebrated our 15 year anniversary. Can you believe it?! we have been marred for 15 years. Of course we celebrated as any baseball parent would by attending a baseball game.-LOL. FYI Tanner's team pulled off a win against the Enterprise JV. Tanner played 2nd and had several double plays.
We weren't able to go out on our actual anniversary but we did manage to get away for a few hours on Saturday night. We went out to dinner and a movie and then ended the night doing a little grocery shopping-oh the romantic life huh? We love it though!
Flashback to us about 14 years ago...
us today...
15 down an eternity to go.

Cousins in St. George

The kids are always so excited when they find out cousin are coming to town. Last weekend Brenda and her kids along with a few stowaways came down for a cheer-leading competition and stayed with us for a couple of days. The kids had a blast with their cousins-especially the girls. The choreographed a dance routine as well as their outfits. I'm glad the kids like their cousins so much and hope they can always be friends even as they grow older.
(I never get enough pictures of them when they are together, but at least Brenda snapped this one of the girls.)

Soccer-Start of Spring Season

Last week Chloe's team started their Spring soccer season. Well actually they started it the previous week when we were in Arizona, but Chloe missed that game. They pulled off an easy win. Chloe even managed to get one past the goalie and score a point. I have decided that soccer is lots and lots of hard work to finally get that one point. It takes time after time of going down the field, making the pass, and taking the shot before someone finally scores.

Busy Week of Baseball Games

Last week was a super busy week of baseball. Tanner's team played four games. Tanner did really well in all of them he alternated between playing catcher, 2nd base, and shortstop. In one of his games he made a really nice double play as well as making a diving play. Of course I missed both of those plays since I was off driving Chloe to soccer practice. It was a rough week to be at the ball parks so much with little Bryce being sick and miserable. He was so whiny, and just wanted to go home, not like his usual happy self at all.

At least he tried to give me a big smile in this picture.

Luckily he finally went to sleep here. This game went into 3 extra innings, before Dixie was finally able to pull off the win. Tanner played short stop for 4 innings and catcher for the other 6.

Tanner was beat after a long week of games. On Saturday cousins were in town. Tanner had another game and of course Jack went to watch him. Tanner didn't play at all on Saturday since it wasn't a real region game they were just having him rest after the grueling week he had. It was kind of sad for Jack.

So far Tanner is having a great season. He is playing really well, and is meshing with the team. They frequently all hang out or have a team sleepover so we are glad he is getting out and socializing a little bit more than he usually does. I think it's going to be a great year. So far Dixie hasn't lost any of their region games, games that actually count.

One Sick Little Boy

Bryce has been a very sick boy ever since last Monday. Today is the first day in over a week when he has shown a lot of improvement in his attitude, energy level, and the amount of food he is eating. I am so glad he is finally on the mend!!!
Last Monday he woke up with a fever-it was kind of weird cause he had no other symptoms. Then Tuesday I noticed he had sores in the front of his mouth and on his tongue. Come to find out what he had was the Cold Sore Virus (Herpes Simplex Virus). Which apparently when a younger child gets it for the first time can be very bad as we learned with Bryce. He had every symptom/side effect that you can possibly get. He had a high fever(which lasted 5 days), swollen lymph nodes, gum inflammation (which caused them to bleed), along with the sores on his mouth and tongue. Needles to say he was one miserable little boy-he was extremely fussy which is so unlike his normal happy self-but you can understand why. He couldn't eat anything. He saw the doctor twice and both times was close to needing IV for dehydration. The bad thing about his whole thing is that it is a virus so there is nothing they could really do for it besides let it run it's course and have you give stuff for pain. He also lost weight, which he didn't have much to spare in the first place-so now especially when he wears shorts he looks like a walking stick figure.
Poor little guy-no one should have to go through that especially not a child that young.

My Boys

Love these three boys with all my heart...

Spring Break:Car Wash and Bowling Fun

Being that it was Spring Break the kids had tons of time to spend playing with their friends. We are lucky to live in a little neighborhood with tons of kids that are Chloe's age and younger.  And even though Chloe's BFF, Brydee, moved away to another part of town she is usually around to join in on the fun. The weather was so nice so the kids spent a lot of time outside! I just let them do their thing-they don't really require constant parental supervision at this age so it is nice. They are always coming up with things to do-making up games, making up plays and skits, etc. Well I wasn't paying much attention as they were busily working on a project, until Chloe came in and announced that they had their first customer. Okay?! Apparently they had made signs and set up a car wash. HAHA They were going to raise money for an animal shelter, but then instead decided to raise some money and go do something fun with it. They worked hard for two days and washed almost all of the cars on our little section of street, by then end of it they had earned $59 dollars.
So Thursday they decided to go to Fiesta Fun with their profits. For what they earned they were able to rent a bowling lane and get shoes for all of them. It was cool cause the bowling lane was in a private room with a couch and comfy chairs-they had a blast!!!

We played a few arcade games after bowling. Bryce thought the games were fun. He was a little confused with the tickets and tokens and didn't understand why we couldn't keep playing even when his tokens were all gone. He was happy at the end though when he was able to trade them in for some tootsie rolls-which are one of his favorite treats.

Fun Day-Great Way to End Spring Break!!! Also great lesson for the kids on how hard work can pay off.

Start of Baseball:Pre-Season

Tuesday (March 10), the day after we got home from our vacation, Tanner had another double header pre-season game. It was against Canyon View a team from Cedar City. It was actually a pretty sad couple of games. Tanner's team, The Flyers, beat them badly both times. To understand the highlight of the game you need a little background...there is a kid on Tanner's team named Austin Wilde. He is a really small kid. No one thought he had a chance to make the team-but he did. Even his Dad says that he and Austin both know he won't see a lot of playing time. Well during this game Austin got to play quite a bit-and he made a double play. It was awesome to hear the announcer say over the intercom "Austin Wilde-ladies and gentlemen" after he made the play. During the second game Landon and I were both surprised to see Tanner starting as catcher-he hasn't caught in over a year-and in fact I sold all of his catching stuff cause we just figured he wouldn't catch in high-school. He actually did really well, though his throw from home to second was just a little weak(something he can work on). He did well enough though that his coach told him he was going to be one of the main catchers for the rest of the season. He really likes the main coach over the Sophomore team-Cody. Lately all we ever hear at home is Cody this and Cody that-haha. Landon talked to him a few days ago and was like can I give you a little list of things to tell Tanner since he obviously listens to you-he thought that was pretty funny. I think it is going to be a fun year and we should see some good things from Tanner and his team.

Bryce is also happy to be going to baseball games again. He loves to wear his Flyers t-shirt and he always says he is going to watch Tanner drop a bomb. The only thing he doesn't like is that his Tan is gone a lot more than usual to practice, games, and doing stuff with the team.
He is such a little cheeser.

Haircuts

We got back into town from our vacation on Monday, which was also the first day of Spring Break for the older two kids. After getting her hair dyed Chloe needed a little trim. I decided to give it a try with Bryce too, he is not a fan of getting his haircut. We managed to get through it though by having him sit on my lap, bribing him with a piece of candy when he was all done, and of course letting him get it cut like Tanners (pompadour or hipster hair). I tried to snap a few pictures of the finished product but he was kind of being a goof.

Arizona Vacation: Day 5 (Home Again but not for Long)

Day 5 we woke up and after a stop at Dunkin Donuts, hit the road. We drove for most of the day with a stop in Vegas for lunch. Bryce got a little fussy at this point but calmed down for the rest of the trip. All in all the drive home was uneventful-just long plus we hit a little congestion in the gorge which made it even longer.
We finally got home but only had a few minutes to unpack and rest before we all loaded up to head a double-header ball game that Tanner had.
IT was Tanner's first official high-school game and I didn't even get a picture!!! I must have been tired or something. The first game Tanner sat the bench, it was his repercussion for having missed a game and helping at a tournament while we were in Arizona. It was all good though-we all knew this, its just the coaches way of being fair. The second game Tanner started and played short stop for most of the game. They ended up losing both games-they were pre-season games so they didn't officially count, but it was good practice for them and good to see what they needed to work on for the regular season.

Arizona Vacation: Church, Temple, Oranges (Day 4)

Sunday we went to church. After church we drove over to the Phoenix temple to look at it. We wanted to walk around the grounds, but unfortunately they were locked up. Jeff, my Mom's hubby, did all of the cement work at this temple. It looks so good. We were at least able to walk around the outside of the fence and see it all. Such a pretty place.

After our visit to the temple we went to Jeff's sisters house for a family dinner. It was fun. They have a bunch of citrus trees at their house so before we left we picked a bunch of lemons and oranges to bring home with us.

That night the kids were pretty wound up...especially the three younger boys they kept jumping from the couch to the blow up mattress doing tricks. They would say before they jumped "watch me Breckon" or "watch me Bryce". It was pretty funny-I was sure one of them was going to end up hurt but we lucked out.

While the boys were busy goofing off-Chloe talked Grandma into dying her hair red. She loves red hair. This time it is a more natural red than the last time she got it done. It looks so good and everyone just thinks its her natural color cause it matches her cute little freckles.

After all the excitement it was time for bed as we were getting up early (5 am) the next morning to leave town.
