How Do You Like Them Apples

Last night the fam went to my Grandma's house for dinner. Tiffanie, Brandon, and Taelor also were there. We made carmel apples while we were out there. I was very excited. Carmel apples are one of my favorite treats. They are always so expensive to buy at the store, or carnival, or any other event. I very happy when once a year we get to make them with my Grandma. Chloe did come and help make one. Tanner said he didn't want to he was to busy building something with legos or lincoln logs.

TAGGED

Thursday Oct. 30, 2008

***TAGGED***
Rules:A. People who are tagged need to post these rules, and 8 random habits/facts/quirks about themselves. B. At the end of the post you need to choose 8 people to get tagged and list their names.

EIGHT THINGS ABOUT ME....

1. I have to read myself to sleep everynight. It is a rare occasion that I can go to sleep without reading.

2. I only like to drink very cold milk, if it has been sitting out and is warm or even just cool I can't drink it. It has to be cold like right out of the fridge.

3. It bothers me when Landon puts his clothes on top of the hamper instead of in it. I recently took the lid off the hamper and solved that problem.

4. I like to recycle as much as possible. I have a bin for paper, plastic, and cans. I throw almost all of my paper in the recycle bin even little pieces. I also fill up 2 liter pop bottles with water and store them. I save and reuse my plastic bags.

5. I like to save energy. I recently finished upgrading all the lights in my house to the expesive energy saving lightbulbs that are supposed to last like 5 years. I also try to unplug small appliances when I'm done using them -the toaster, cricut, my curling iron and blow dryer (most of the time).

6. I rarely can sleep through the night without waking up at least once. When I wake up I usually have to visit the bathroom, and check on my kids and make sure they are still sleeping peacefully and covered up.

7. I get really frustrated when 3rd grade teachers grade every single assingment in the class on handwriting, grammar, and spelling. Instead of focusing on the actual subject. I don't really understand. I mean they are in third grade after all, not high school. It also make me mad when they minus points for dumb things like skipping a page in a notebook, or not having a parents signature one week, but it was okay the week before not to, because this doens't really reflect the actuall grade. It reflects the teachers pickiness.

8. It bothers me when people leave the t.v. on when company comes over, especially if it's a lot of company, or your trying to talk, and the show on isn't something that the whole group is watching.

The Gigantic Pumpkin

On Monday we carved pumpkins for family night. Now these weren't just any pumpkins these were a very large pumpkin (Chloe's) and a gigantic pumpkin (Tanner's). These pumpkins were grown at Landon's parents house. Tanners pumpkin was so big that we Landon had to get a wheel barrow to take it to the car. He said he thought it was at least 70 lbs. It is almost as big as Tanner and definately weighs more than he does. My dad was joking that it cost us $5 in gas just to bring it home. The kids had fun removing the pumpkins insides. Then it was time to carve. Tanner wanted to do a 2 face on his Landon helped in draw one. Chloe insisted on doing Belle on hers. This was of course the hardest pattern in the book labeled as challenging. Tanner wanted to cut his this year so we let him have a go at it, he did pretty good except for the sides were so thick that Landon had to help him get all the way through it in spots. Chloe wasn't really that into the carving she mostly just rode her bike around while I did it. She would come help poke out the pieces occasionally. The finished products look pretty good. The kids were really excited to get lights in them.

A Trip to the Dentist

Yesterday the kids and I took a trip to the Dentist. The kids were actually quite excited about the whole thing. Tanner said he wanted to be first because he never gets to. Although Chloe wanted to be last she was still happy about the whole thing. She talked to the lady cleaning our teeth the whole time, and asked what everything was and what it did. Then when it was her turn she hopped in the chair and put on her sunglasses, just like big brother. I was just worried about what the dentists report would be on cavities. Well I was cavity free but the kids were another story. Chloe had 1 and Tanner had 4!. I can't believe it. He never gets cavities. Chloe on the other hand is my sweet tooth. I wonder if they will be quite so excited in a couple of weeks when they have to get thoses cavities filled. Maybe if they get another toothbrush and prize it will all be worth it, who knows. Well I guess we'll be having some serious teeth brushing sessions from now on.

Cell Phone Trouble

Well we got Tanner a cell phone a few months ago. He needs one every once in awhile to be able to call us and stuff. He doens't take it anywhere with him, it mostly just stays home. Well today I got the bill and Tanner's part of it was over $200. I was like what in the heck!!!!!!!!! Come to find out he had been playing games on his phone, and these games were costing us money. He was actually downloading them each time he played them and each time he did this it was $3-$5. He thought they were just games that were on his phone to play. So we had to go into Verizon and explain the situation. Luckily we had a very nice lady helping us who actually took off all of the charges for the games. Thank Heavens because I don't know where I or should I say Tanner would have come up with that money. She also blocked his internet access, which was supposed to be done when we got the phone, so even if he tried now there would be no more playing games. We had a long talk with him, and I think he was really sorry for the trouble he had caused.

My Little Picaso

Chloe Loves Preschool. Her favorite center is the kitchen center. She loves to play in there with her new friends. However a close second for her is the art center. She loves to do art projects, as anyone who knows her obsession with paint and scissors could attest to. This picture of her is with two of her masterpieces she made at school. Our fridge is now covered in artwork once again just like it used to be when Tanner was in preschool and kindergarten. One day Landon asked Chloe what she did at preschool and she said we just played, and played, and played, and ate, and ate, and ate. He thought that was pretty funny. Good way to describe Mom's job right. I really do look forward to work alot more this year I think having her in my class is the reason why.

Cement

Landon is on the Vice President for our HOA, and sometimes he hires himself out to them to do projects around our complex. A few months ago he replaced all of the water valves in front of the houses, and put on new outside outlet boxes. Last week he took on the project of pouring a small slab of cement so that a few of the residents had a spot to park there garbage cans. Don't ask me how he knows how to do cement. He said he just kind of learned from watching guys do it back when he was driving and would sometimes deliver cement. Anyways Chloe was so excited. She could hardly wait to get home from school to see the Cement truck. The whole time while Landon was over there doing the work she stayed right by him she was just in awe of the whole process. I had to wash her shoes off several times because they were covered in wet cement. Luckily I did it before it dried on there.

Here is the finished product. Looks Good to me.
