Our Weekend

Here is what we spent the better part of our weekend doing.

They turned out nice but we were a little frustrated because after hours of messing around with the program we decided to just put the names on straight then after we had done six of them this way Landon figured it out so we were able to curve the last six. However I think they still turned out nice and you won't be able to tell that much of a difference when the boys are out on the field.

Thanks mom for letting us use the machine and for all the help.

LadyBugs!

Yesterday we did a little more work in the garden. We put in three kinds of onions and did some other work around it. In the next week or two we should be able to get everything else in. My mom bought the kids a little surprise while we were working-a whole tub of ladybugs. The spent a long time playing with them. They all thought they were so cool-except Taelor wouldn't have anything to do with them once the tub was actually opened. Ha Ha.

Uptown Girl

Chloe had so much fun at Grandma's today playing dress up in all of her fancy high heels-especially since mommy doesn't own any.
Check out Tanner in the background with his nose in a book.
Also my mom did another wedding cake over the weekend it was very elegant check it out here http://thebridespie.blogspot.com/2010/03/new-twist.html. I loved how it turned out.

Yard Sale Deals

This morning after going to get our bountiful basket my Grandma and I hit a few yardsales. I got a few steals-a bunny rabbit that is like brand new and so cute for Chloe's Easter Basket and this horse tire swing only $12 like new, these are $100 dollars at Cal Ranch. I thought the swing would be perfect for Flowell and maybe replace the old gunny sack in the tree. Both of the kids thought the swing was pretty cool.

Happy Anniversary to US

Just one more quick post it is Landon and I's 10th anniversary today! Can you believe it? Wow how time flies. Tonight we are going to go to Red Lobster to celebrate after which we will quickly head to another meeting full of angry people to who knows how long. Landon said at least it will be entertaining! and at least my Grandma has offered to let the kids stay the night if needed-thanks Gram.
Happy Anniversary Landon- I Love YOU!

Where have I been all week?

Sorry there have been no blog posts and no pictures this week. If you really know me at all I all have to do is say this and then you will realize that I have barely had time to breath this week "I have yet to open my papers and clip my coupons or look at the ads and I have only been to one store mainly to grab so milk"-GASP.

What has been occuping my time instead...
#1 the kids started baseball-practices yeah
#2 Teacher Appreciation Week at GWA, which I am over.
#3 TRAMA and Turmoil at GWA, angry mobs and lots of meetings lasting until late hours of the nights, can't explain it all on the blogs you'll have to talk to me in person for this one.

Science Fair Winners

I went to pick up Chloe from school today a little bit early so I could send her home with Grandpa since I had to stay and do some stuff at the school for a few hours she was so excited to tell me that she and Tanner had both gotten 1st place on their science fair projects.
Yeah-Way to go Kids!
Tanner's Project was Which Living Organism Has The Cleanest Mouth?
Chloe's Project Was Do Different Kinds of Apples Have the Same Number of Seeds?

Glasses

Over Spring Break Tanner had to get glasses.
His diagnosis-he is a little bit near sighted and also has a stigmatism.
He has taken to wearing them quite well and has had no problem keeping them on all day. I think he kind of actually likes wearing them. Maybe it helps that several of his friends have them. Landon was just happy that his frames were going to match his baseball uniform this year. LOL.

Good to Read and Watch

The following three books I would highly recomend they are some of the best books I have read in a long time.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
The HourGlass Door by Lisa Mangum

FYI the third book in the series by Suzanne Collins should be coming out this Summer along with the second book in the series by Lisa Mangum, THE SPIRAL STAIRCASE.

Also we watched OLD DOGS over the weekend. I thought that is was truly one of the best movies I have seen in along time not because of what the movie was about or how well it was acted out but because there was not language, no smut, and lots of cheesy good time laughs. This movie stars Robin Williams and John Travolta.

Target Deals on Wheels

Yesterday the kids and I rode our bikes to Target. Yes you hear right we rode our bikes. The weather was really nice and I figured what the heck since Landon had my car and there was a deal I definatly didn't want to miss out on. Spring Break

WE have been "STAY-CATIONING" the last week as the kids and I have both been off for Spring Break. We have been trying to have as much fun as we could here in town while spending as little as possible at the same time. I think we have done a pretty good job of it. Here is what we have done...
Monday-We went to jumping jacks with Tyler and Sam (it was free thanks to Dixie Direct).
Tuesday-We went to Fiesta Fun (free thanks to Report Cards)
Wednesday-We went out to eat at Chuck a Rama with Grandpa Leland (the kids ate free thanks to the summer reading program) The kids LOVE chuck a rama it is like their favorite.
Thursday-We went to the Washington Rec Center to swim (had to pay for this one-dang) and Tanner went to mow Grandpa and Grandma's lawn while Chloe went to the park with some friends.
Friday-This was our big day. First we went to Laser Mania with some friends(lots of coupons and discounts here but not completely free), then we went to Frostop with the same friends (more discounts), then while at Frostop the kids schemed up a sleepover. The girls, Chloe and Gentry, ended up at our house. While the boys, Tanner and Gage, went to the Brinkerhoffs house. I jokingly told Tami that she got the easier end of the deal because the boys are such low maintenance compared to the boys, however not so sure I was joking. HA The kids had lots of fun though and I think they were even a little dissapointed the next day when it came to an end.
Saturday-We just kind of hung. Landon had to go into work for a few hours when he got home we got some PANDA for lunch (used a coupon free lunch for the kids). Then Landon and Tanner went and helped do a little yard work for Grandpa Leland while Chloe and I went shopping with Grandma Tawny to Old Navy. We scored some really cute skirts (onces again used a coupon) and Grandma has even already taken Chloe's in so she can wear it to church without it falling off. After that Landon and my Dad took on the project of replacing the Slav Cylinder in Landon's Transmission this took them until after ten. While they were out in the garage slaving away the kids and I relaxed on the couch and watched a movie.
Sunday-nothing much to speak of yet, we all slept in until 9:00! A record at our house. We are still just lounging around until it's time for church which doesn't start until 2:00-lucky us Landon and I have to give the sacrament prayers today. After church my Dad, Mom, and Grandma are going to come over for dinner.
So that's our week in a nutshell!

Wedding Cake

My mom did this great wedding cake for a wedding last night.
She is so talented. She learned to decorate and make cakes from her mom, but she has taught herself and added new skills such as the art of fondant.

I remember growing up we could pick whatever cake we wanted for our birthdays and she would create it. I remember having a my little pony, a puppy, a cinderella, and many many more. Now all the grandkids also get to benefit from it as well either her or my grandma are always there to make them whatever kind of cake there little hearts desire.

Bountiful Baskets

This is what we got in our bountiful basket this morning18 Minneolas
1 Head Leaf Lettuce
1 Head Cabbage
2 Cartons of Blueberries
1 Carton Strawberries
7 zuchini
6 cucumbers
10 bananas
6 pears
2 bunches of asparagus
2 bunches of spinach
8 apples
The best part is we only paid $15 for all this plus a $1.50 handling charge, which there is no way you could walk in a grocery store and get all that for that price.
I am pretty excited about this program it is kind of new to St. George but we already have 4 sites. What you do is you go online to http://www.bountifulbaskets.org/ on Monday at 12:00 noon and sign up for a basket make sure you do it at 12:00 because last week all 150 baskets for the site I went to were gone within an hour. The first time you sign up you have to pay a $3 basket fee.
This is a good way to get your family eating more fruits and vegetables and also to try new things because you never know what you might find in your basket from week to week. Also you don't have to get one every week you can decided when and how often you get them.

Report Cards and Baseball Tryouts

Yesterday was a busy day. We had the kid's parent teacher conference and Tanner had baseball tryouts.
The kids both got really good reports at school. Chloe's teacher said she is right where she should be and very good in class, she can now count and write to 100, she is starting to read pretty well independently and has warmed up enough that she is starting to talk a little during class-should I be worried?
Tanner got all A's except for a B+ in Math. The one thing he kind of struggles in is math because he has a hard time showing his work and also turning in his assingments. Overall though is doing very good in school. I am going to brag for just a minute here about his reading. Okay so here is the graph a little blury but mainly just focus on the dots.
The dot on the bottom is GWA 4th Grades score on an average which is already 1 -2 grade levels above that of the regular school the top dot is Tanner he is off the charts not even in the shaded area-his teacher said he is about at a 9th or 10th grade reading level-this makes me just a little bit proud. I mean what can I expect though he read the Hunger Games in 2 days!

Tanner also had baseball tryouts yesterday. They let the nine year old that want to try out to be on the Minor League Team which is the 10-11 year olds. They have to catch two pop flys and throw to shortstop, stop to grounders and throw to first, and then hit two pitches and run to first. Tanner dropped one pop fly but aced the rest of his fielding. He didn't hit either pitch though which is unlike him (the homerun king last year). Will see what happens, we really don't care if he goes up or stays with his age group both have their good and bad points. It was mainly more for the experience anyways and he did have fun so that's good.

IT MAKES ME SMILE

This is one of the things that make me smile...when I can walk out of the grocery store and have only paid $1.65 out of pocket for all of this. :)
