The hunt for the Perfect Christmas Tree

Black Friday

I love Black Friday! I look forward to it every year. This year it started on Thursday for us. My mom and sister's and I went to Kmart on Saturday at a little after 6:00 to hit there big Thanksgiving Day Sale. We had fun and got everything on our list. Then at 11:00pm that night my Dad, Mom, and a friend of mine (Alisha), and I went to the Children's place to hit their big sale. After finding everything we wanted we only had to wait in line a little over an hour (ha ha) and only had one little run in with a disgruntled lady who was behing us in line. By the time we were done there is what about 1:00 in the morning. We dropped off Alisha and the my parents and I decided to just make a night of it. So we headed to Denny's for some breakfast. After that I did go home and get about an hour's sleep. Then at 4:00 I woke Tanner up because he wanted to join the fun and we headed over to JCPenny's to pick up my parents and then went and got in the line at Target which was about an block long. Though it was long we only had to wait in line 30 minutes and when the line started to move it only took us 5 minutes to get in the store. When we got in it was time to divide and conquer. We split up and were able to get everything on our list but one thing. We then got in the line, which by the time it was all said and done wrapped clear around the store. We had to wait in line for a little over an hour. While we were in line Tanner asked what are we in line for now-he was in a little bit of shock when I told him it was to pay. I let him get a hot chocolate and a hot dog to pass the time. Yes a hot dog and 5:00 in the morning and he thouroughly seemed to enjoy it.

We got home about 8:00 after running to Wal-Mart for one thing. By then I was ready to crash, but no rest for the wicked I guess it was time to get ready and head to Flowell.

Happy Thanksgiving

We had a very nice Thanksgiving. We went to my Grandma Marshall's. My whole family was there this year. We had great food and good company. The kids had lots of fun with their cousins.

Today we made rolls and some cream pies; but all I really care about is the squash pie it's so good. Can't wait for Thanksgiving tomorrow and all the good food.

Doubler Deals and How To

Okay so there were Doublers in the paper on Sunday. Now a lot of people have been asking me about doublers what they are and how to use them. So I will try to do a little bit of explaining.
What is a doubler -it is a coupon that Albertsons puts out. They are usually located in an Albertsons ad usually in the Sunday paper. If you don't get the Sunday paper find a relative or neighbor who does who is not going to use this coupon and ask them if you can have them there are lots of people out there willing to give them to you.
How does a doubler work-you use a manufacturer coupon on an item then you use the doubler on the same item for the same price as the manufacturer coupon was. For example if you had a .50/1 coupon you were going to use then your doubler would also be worth .50 so if the item you were buying was only $1 it would end up being free.
To make doublers work you need coupons. If you get the Sunday paper or know someone who does there are inserts of coupons in it every week. If you don't get the paper there are tons of prinatble coupons online. One of my favorite sights. Grocery Smarts.com if you go here you will need to enter this passport number g84ctb. Then there will be a scroll down list click the grocery store of your choice and up pops a list of everything in that stores add along with coupon matchups if there are printable coupons available there will be a link you can click on and print them. My other favorite is Krazy Coupon Lady her link is on my blog. Right now she has a coupon on her blog that is a link for Dole Fruit .50/1 which is on sale at Albertson's for $1 a can so pair it with a doubler and you have free fruit.

Here is what I got at Albertsons this week with my doublers
-3 packages bacon was $2.49 with coupon and doubler =.99 each
-6 packages juice boxes was $1.00 per box with coupon and doubler=FREE
-2 cans Dole Pineapple was $1.00 per can with coupon and doubler=FREE
-2 boxes Rices Krispies was $2.50 per box with coupon and doubler =.50 each
-1 box Frosted Flakes was $2.50 with coupon and doubler=.50
-2 packages Chocolate chips was $2.00 per bag with coupon and doubler=$1.00 each
-Dog Bones was $3.99 with coupon and doubler $1.99
-Apples $1.00 per pound Almost free with coupon when you buy cereal

Chloe's New Trick

Chloe's latest gymnastic move is a handstand into a backbend. She practices and practices this move all the time. She can finally do it on her own without a spot most of the time. Her coach is very excited about her abilities and her motivation and to be quite honest so is her mom.

Christmas is in the Air

I know I know it's a little bit early but I can't seem to help being just a little bit excited about the upcoming Holiday. What with black Friday in a few days and Landon getting the lights on the house-yes I finally conviced him to do it today with a little begging, sweet talking, and threatening. Yipee I can hardly wait. Bring on Christmas!

Chloe of course had to go up and help Daddy-this year I wasn't even nervous I guess I'm just so used to her going up there with him and with her being such a agile little monkey I don't worry as much. Tanner couldn't quite overcome his fear of heights to make it over the top of the ladder so that's why he isn't up there as well.

Leaf Fun

The last couple of days the kids have been having fun raking and playing in the leaves at my Grandma's. The first thing they asked her when they saw them all on the ground is if they could have a rake. They are getting braver-now they are building the pile so they can jump out of the tree into it.

Rocket Launcher

Last weekend Landon and I attended a cub-scout POW-WOW. At one of our classes they showed us these cool rocket launchers. You took them to your car battery and a air compresser and they shoot rockets (made of paper, a couple of pennies, and tape) hundreds of feet in the air. We thought they were pretty cool and that the boys would love it, so Landon came home and built one for our troop-without any instructions I might add. Landon and the kids and our neighbor Dave tested it out for a better part of the afternoon. Now they have a fun new toy!

Kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast

Today the Kindergarten had their annual Thanksgiving Day Feast. Chloe was quite upset that her class had to be the Indians while the other class was getting to be the Pilgrims. She told me she wasn't going to wear her costume. Well she did wear it for a few minutes and then again for some pictures, but she took it off as quickly as possible.

They had a full course Thanksgiving meal including the pumpkin pie. Then they had different centers they went to around the gym. Including turkey bowling with a pumkin and pin the hat on the turkey. It was fun to watch and it seemed like all of the kids had a good time.

Peanut..Peanut Butter and Jelly

This morning I went to Albertson's and grabbed some peanut butter. They had it in their ad for .99 with the in ad coupon. A little while back my sister in law Taryn ordered some coupons on ebay for .75 off any Skippy Product. So I used both coupons and got it for .25 a jar. Now you can't beat that price on Peanut Butter.
Can you believe it that's all I got; I'm waiting on everthing else gambling on whether or not there will be doublers on Sunday, because there is other stuff that would have been a good deal but I would rather get it FREE than pay .50 or $1.00.
Thanks Taryn for the coupons!

Red Light! Green Light!

Last night as we were coming home from my Grandma's house someone ran a red light at an intersection and hit us. This was one of those moments when you just realize how blessed and watched over you are. If Landon hadn't been paying attention and hit the brakes as fast as he did then we would have been farther out in the intersection and the girl would have hit us right in either the driver side door where Landon was driving or in the back door where Chloe was sitting, and it could have been so much worse. We were very lucky though and the car ended up catching the front bumper and scrapping all the way along it. The damage is very minimal, but we will probably end up getting the whole bumper replaced. The main thing is that no one was hurt. Thank heavens for small blessing.

Going to the Chapel

Chloe has been asking me for forever to get her a play wedding dress. But if you know me and my thrifty shopping I just couldn't fathom spending the $24 to $30 that different places wanted for a dress up dress. Well Chloe was on luck I found a Halloween Wedding Dress on Clearance regular $20 for only $5. Now that I could pay. I bought it and put it on the kitchen table when she got home from school it was the first thing she saw and she just got the biggest smile on her face and said is this for me. That night I asked her what the best thing about the day had been and she smiled and said "The Wedding Dress". Needless to say she has been wearing it for the last 2 days straight.

Hot Chex!

I just had to post about this deal. If you have a Harmons nearby you may want to get on over there and grab you some Chex. Chex cereal is on sale 4/$10 (not that great of a deal) but.....
there is a coupon in the ad for $4 off when you buy 4 bringing the price down to 4/$6 plus.... since it is a Harmons coupon you can also pair it with 2 $1/2 Chex Cereal Manufacturer coupons. Making your grand total 4/$4 or $1 a piece. I don't think you can beat that price on CHEX.

Family since I only live a block from Harmons and since I happen to have 5 extra manufacturer coupons for Chex if you want me to grab you some give me a call or send me an email. First Come First Serve.

The kids were very happy with their candy stash when we were all through.
