Swim Team Tri-State Championships

While Tanner was on Trek and Landon was working. I took Chloe and headed down to Mesquite for the Tri-State Championship swim meet. Bryce of course came with us. This is a two day meet. With Friday being a qualifying day in everything but the relays. The relays are final. The top 6 swimmers from all other events advance to Saturday for the Championships.
Day 1-camp set up-ready for the long wait.
Chloe swam 4 events of Friday
200 meter Freestyle Relay
50 Meter Breast
100 Meter IM
50 Meter Freestyle
She was the 3rd leg of the freestyle relay and she really helped her team out-she brought them from 4 or 5th place into 2nd place. They were then able to keep that spot and ended up taking a 2nd place in the event-so Silver Medal!!! Woot Woot
 Breaststroke Prelims (Friday)
She took 11th/27 with a time of 49.16

 Individual Medley Prelims (Friday)
She took 6th/10 with a time of 1:37.40

Freestyle Prelims
9th/28 with a time of 37.13
(no pictures of this event-I took a video, but it was to big to upload on here)

Bryce was such a trooper he had his moments but overall he did great. We were there for about 8 hours. Just before Chloe's last race I loaded up the wagon so we could leave as soon as it was over. I looked over as I was waiting for her to go and notice Bryce had fallen asleep-he just couldn't hold out any longer-poor little guy was all tuckered out.

Trek

A few weeks ago Tanner went on Trek with the youth group from our state. For those of you who aren't LDS-Trek is a reenactment of the pioneers coming to Utah. The youth dress up in clothing from that era. They then hike/walk a long a trail while pulling handcarts. They eat all of their meals on the trail and camp at nights. The youth are divided into families and each family has two parents (adults called as volunteers for the job) and about 5-6 youth. It lasts for 3 days and 2 nights. I'm not sure the whole thing is fun-but there are fun parts to it. Also it is meant to teach the youth the sacrifices the pioneers made-but there are lots of other life lessons that can be learned along the way.
When Tanner got home he didn't have a lot to say about the whole thing-but the good news is we didn't hear things like "I hated it, it was dumb, I am never going again"-which coming from a teenagers parent if you don't hear those things then it is very good.
A friend of ours went along as one of the cooks so she had managed to catch a few action shots of Tanner.

Pool Blues

Well unfortunately we had to take the pool down at my Grandmas house-one of her neighbors complained that it wasn't safe because she couldn't keep an eye on her kids all of the time and they wouldn't mind and stay away from it. We do cover it when it's not in use and felt like we were pretty responsible with it-however we looked into city ordinance just to check and it said that if it is over 2 feet deep it has to be in a fenced in area. So we decided to take it down since if they called the city we were going to have to anyways. The kids were all so upset. :( We brought it to our house and kind of put it up-but our back yard really isn't quite wide enough for it-so it's up but not completely full-they still have fun in it but for some reason it's just not as fun as when it was at Grandma's house.

Snapshots of Summer Part #3

I bought the girls some white canvas shoes and let them go to town with the sharpies. The end result turned out pretty cool.
 Silly Boy
You got to do what you go to do to keep cool-I guess this is the only way to ride your bike in the summer.
Summer Haircuts-Bryce looks like he is in pain and I didn't capture one of Tanner
Damaged Hair-Chloe's hair has taken a hard hit this summer. We have bought special products and gotten treatments done to no avail. Hopefully when swim season is over we can get it back to normal. (since she won't be in the water 2-3 times a day)
Chloe didn't want me taking her picture so she stole my phone and took one of me-I thought I'd include it for fun even though I hate it-haha!
Fresh Salsa we live on this stuff and luckily we can get most of the ingredients right from our garden. I make a batch at least once a week-YUM!
More strawberry jam-the strawberries went on sale again and I couldn't turn them down. This time I had the girls help me to learn how. They had fun-except for when it was time to stir until it boiled Chloe was so bored and inpatient. I guess she takes after he Mom I don't have a lot of patience for things like that either-hence the reason I don't make things like homemade candy-haha.

All-Stars

Chloe was on the softball all-star team for majors this year. Lest anyone think it was only because Landon was the coach it wasn't. He actually went to the all-star meeting and didn't vote on Chloe because he knew how crazy our summer was also they were mostly taking older girls who were 12 or 13 and he figured Chloe would be in majors for at least two more years and get to be on an all-star team then. However, that being said her name was still brought up and she was voted in. There were actually 3 or 4 (littles) girls they brought on the team who were really young with the intent on training them for following years-they were all under the understanding that if the game was really close they might not get in at all and if they did it would probably be to do something like run the bases. However, if they were winning or losing by a lot they would get to play.
Game #1-they lost by quite a bit-Chloe got to play for several innings and she did really well. She got on hit and ran the bases without getting out.
Game #2-they won by a lot! I think it was 18-1 or something like that. So once again Chloe got quite a bit of playing time. This game ended up being super long-over three hours to be exact, because they delayed it twice because of weather.
Game #3-the lost this one by one or two points after going into extra innings. It was a great game-but too bad they couldn't pull off the win. The "littles" didn't really play except for the coach put them each in at some point during the game to run bases. Chloe ended up stealing second and scoring a run when it was her turn.

Running the Bases...
The team. Look how small the girls in the back are compared to those in the front-crazy!

All in all it was a good experience-Chloe learned a lot and had fun. The coaches were awesome and really cared about each girl on the team. Compared to all-stars last year it was a big improvement and much better experience.

Dixie Swim Meet 4-11-15

Chloe had her last home swim meet. It was the same day as Tanner's Eagle Scout Fundraiser Yard-Sale, so she opted to just swim two events so she could help at the yard sale for part of it. She swam the 50 Meter Breaststroke and the 100 Meter IM (Individual Medley). She did really well in both. In the breaststroke she got 5th overall with a time of 49.62. In the IM she got 4th overall with a time of 1:41.00. We are so proud of her; she has been working hard all year. Two swim meets left and then the season is over-where has the summer gone?!
Selfie with Mom (she had to show me how it was done-haha)

Eagle Scout Project

Tanner has been working on his Eagle Scout Project. He is raising money to buy recess and PE equipment/supplies for George Washington Academy. He decided to have a yard-sale to raise the money. He asked for donations form our ward and those we knew. He had a lot of support as the donations poured in late into the night of the day before the yard-sale. The yard-sale was held at a warehouse our bishop owned and the donations literally filled the whole thing. He ended up meeting his goal plus donating about 4 truck fulls to the DI of leftovers when it was all over with. Now he just needs to do go shopping to purchase the items for the school and finish all the paperwork to make it official.

4th of July Weekend

We were so excited for the 4th of July Weekend for several reasons-1st off Landon had three days off, 2nd off we had no ball games, practices, or sports events of any kind for  five days, and Lastly my Mom and Jeff were going to be in town. We planned lots of fun activities.
The Schedule for Friday (July 3rd)
10:00am-swimming and water balloons @ Great Grandmas
12:00-lunch time sponsored by Daisy Sour cream (I had a House Party from them)
2:00-Jurrassic World @ the movie theatre
5:00-dinner @ buffalo wild wings
dusk-ice cream bar followed by fireworks
It was such a fun filled day. We were busy all day but having lots and lots of fun. I thought it was perfectly planned.

Things got a little redneck at the party cause the kids kept trying to ramp up the level of fun with the swimming pool.

Saturday (July 4th)
We did a lot of just hanging out. We had to put up and take down flags for scouts so that took up time in the morning and evening. That night we went up the hill to some of the people in our wards house to watch the fireworks. Most of the kids swam while the fireworks were going off.
I took a picture of the kids in their cute 4th of July tie dye shirts we made.

Take 1
Take 2

Take 3
Take 4 (finally got it)-perfect!
Sunday (July 5th)
We went to church and just hung out. We had a great weekend. So grateful for the freedoms we enjoy on a daily basis and of course my family.
