Kanarraville Falls

Since the 4th of July would mean a three day weekend for us, and we were planning to stay in town, we decided to plan something fun to do close to home. Usually if we go hiking or somewhere fun outdoors, all of the kids, teenager included, want to come along. We decided we would go hike Kanarraville Falls. Kanarraville Falls is a slot canyon with a series of three waterfalls located in Kanarraville, Utah, which is only short 30 minute drive from our house. We have hiked it once before, years and years ago, probably when Chloe was about Bryce's age. In the past years it has gained popularity, so we knew that especially on a Holiday weekend it might be busy. (side note-you also have to pay $10 to park, unless you want to park somewhere in town and walk to the trail head)With this in mind we planned to get there early, also Tanner had to work that evening so we needed to make sure he was home in time for that.
The hike, if you visit all three waterfalls is about 5 miles roundtrip. On the way up Bryce did really well walking most of the way himself. We would carry him when we had to cross the river, as he is not a fan of cold water and we didn't want him whining the rest of the hike. The trail eventually gets to a point where you have to walk in the water, so if you plan to go plan accordingly.
The scenery along the way is beautiful.
Cuties
We made it to the point where we had to walk in the water, and after that Bryce rode on Landon's shoulders for most of the rest of the hike.
We made it to the first fall. After exploring it, it was time to go up and over. As you can see there is a ladder in place. This was the busiest spot, but people were really nice about taking turns and letting people who were needing to go both up and down.

THE SECOND WATERFALL
The second waterfall has a rock slide. We went past it on the way up, and planned to do it on our way down. Bryce wanted to go, but afterwards regretted it, you can see him crying as they come out of the water-it is ice cold. You can see from Chloe's face as well how cold it was, but that didn't see to stop her from going down several times. Tanner went down once as well. Mom was kind of a party pooper on this one.
We took a little break at this water fall and Bryce said "Mom look at me. I'm a monkey in a tree. Take a picture. Now send that one to Grandma Tawny". Haha funny kid.
 Off to the last waterfall.
THE THIRD WATERFALL
We made it to the third waterfall. The ladder on this one is pretty rickety, so Landon and I opted not to go up, as it would be pretty hard to take Bryce up. Tanner and Chloe climbed up it though without any problems. The canyon does continue on up a little bit after this, but for us this was our turning around point.
 Headed Back
You can tell who had the camera ;)
We honestly had a great day hiking as a family. It's nice to be able to enjoy these beautiful places together. Landon and I were a little bit sore the next day, but it was worth it.
