Memorial Weekend Camping Trip

Our Memorial Day Weekend was pretty wet and cold, but overall I think we still had quite a bit of fun. Our plan was to go camp from Friday through Monday at Mandersfield with my Sister Mandy and her family.
Before we went Chloe and I made these cute Pinterest inspired shirts for her and Saydee. Chloe absolutely loves camping so this shirt was perfect for you. I have to say I am pretty impressed with how they turned out.
We got to our campsite Friday afternoon. The clouds were looming and it was starting to rain a bit so we hurried and got the tent setup-Bryce was excited to test out the sleeping bags-even though he doesn't look like it in this picture.

It was pretty cold so the next item of business was to get the fire going and warm up.

Then of course the rain started. So we spent a lot of time hanging out in the trailer and tent.
Bryce and Hanxton even took a nice little nap.
Once the rain started it never really stopped the girls didn't let it slow them down too much though and they still have fun running around outside and even attempted to do a little fishing.

Bryce and Tanner preferred to spend time in the tent where it was dry. They read some books and did a little WWF wrestling.
It started to rain harder and then actually began snowing-the girls finally gave it up and came in the tent for some games. Landon cooked everyone some s'mores and delivered them right to the tent door.
It rained/snowed all through the night in the morning when we looked out the window there was snow on the ground. Luckily we stayed dry and somewhat warm.
That morning it continued to rain...
Thankfully we were able to eat breakfast in the trailer.
It didn't look like the rain would be letting up anytime soon so we decided to drive into the town of Beaver to give us something to do and also eat some lunch at the local El Bambi CafĂ©.
After lunch it was still raining and after looking at the weather report it seemed that would be the case for the rest of the weekend. No Good!!! We had a choice to make-tough it out or pack it up. We finally decided to pack up and go to Fillmore for the rest of the weekend. The worst part was trying to pack everything back into the truck while it was raining and muddy-not fun!!!
On the way home Mandy and Cody's trailer lost and axel just before Kanosh-so that was a project that kept Cody and Landon busy for the next few days.
We made the most of the rest of our weekend, and still tried to do a lot of our planned camping activities. One night we cooked our tinfoil dinners. Another afternoon we went to Cody and Mandy's and we made dutch oven dinner. The kids rode the atv's around the yard. Bryce thought that was the best thing ever and cried when it was time to get off.

The kids wanted to play night games, so we went and dropped them off for a round of fugitive-not long after we dropped them off it got dark and then started to rain. We searched and searched and never found one of them. We were starting to get a little bit worried, but about an hour and a half later they all started to trickle in to home base-having evaded us the whole time. Apparently we forgot to set boundaries and they had been a whole country mile getting around us and back home. They were all soaking wet and cold, but glad that we hadn't spotted them.
I took the kids up to the cemetery to visit Grandpa Marshall and also Little Huxley's graves.
And of course what would a campout be without S'mores.

We really did have a fun weekend despite the not so good weather. Tanner and Chloe ended up staying in Fillmore when we left as we would be turning around and heading back in just a few days.
Bryce was sad to leave behind Brother and Sister, but him and Beckett took a nice long nap almost the whole way home.
After we got home there was a lot of cleaning up to do with all of our wet, muddy camping stuff-in fact I am still working on it three days later. Bryce's favorite part of that night though was getting to hold the flag.

Last Days of School

Last Week the kids finished up school. The official last day was Thursday May 21. They both pretty much knew that the last week didn't count for much. I kind of let them decide whether or not to go to school that week. Chloe ended up going everyday. Tanner only went one morning to drop off an assignment and then he went on Wednesday (which was a partial day) for year book singing and stuff like that. Part of Chloe's decision was based on spending time with her friends-she has been kind of sad the past week because most of her close friends from this year won't be returning to GWA. I am hoping that when the school year starts next year she will find friends from previous years and be able to renew those friendships-and all will be well.
Over the week Chloe's class did a lot of fun things. One day was field day-I went to help out. I was in charge of a few stations. Chloe's teacher told Chloe Bryce could go on rotations with their class. He had the best time playing on the inflatable slides, getting wet, and eating sno-cones with Chloe and her class. He thought he was just one of the big kids. Chloe's teacher was so nice and even took pictures and sent them to me.

Chloe's teacher, Mrs. Gass, has been the perfect fit for Chloe as a teacher. She is a great teacher and truly understands kids. Chloe has greatly excelled in her class this year. Although she didn't get straight A's this last semester (she missed it by to B+'s) we truly are proud of all she has accomplished this year.

Although Tanner's last quarter grades were not quite the straight A's I was hoping for (throw in a couple A-'s, a B- in Science and B in honors math). I guess I really can't complain-he is still doing really well. Despite a rigorous athetic schedule this last quarter he still managed to pull off pretty decent grades. Add that to the fact that he is socializing and stuff like that more than he has in the past two years, which is huge and I have to admit it has been an okay year for him. It has had it's downs and rough spots but overall he has done well for himself. He has grown a lot in more than one way.
On the last day of school Chloe had Brydee over and they hung out with some of the other girls in the neighborhood. I bought them a special end of school treat from the Sweet Tooth Fairy :)
On the last day of school Tanner went to an end of year party with some of his friends. He had a fun time swimming and hanging out. I am really glad he is getting out and socializing, but late nights are super hard on me. I am not a night time person! I actually had to set my alarm to wake me back up to go pick him up at midnight!!! I seriously can not wait until he can drive-only one more year!!!

Last Softball Game for Real

We thought Chloe's last softball game was last week, but we got a call from the league asking us if we would be willing to play one more game since they had messed something up on the schedule. Of course Landon said Yes-no way he would turn down another chance to play.
It was a fun game-and even better the girls won-always good to go out with a win. Chloe started out as catcher. She played that for a couple of innings.

Then she went in to pitch-Landon was just going to have her pitch for one inning, but she did a phenomenal job so he kept her in the rest of the game. I think it was the best pitching she has done all year. She got lots of strike-outs and made a couple outs at first when the ball was hit back to her.
Of course Great Grandma was there and as an added bonus her other Great Grandma-Grandma Angie was able to come as well.
Here is our little monkey just hanging out in the dug out (literally).
Getting ready for her last at bat of the year. Of course she did great hitting this game-no outs at bat and got on base every time.
Fun team picture after the game. This is a fun group of girls-luckily most of them will be on the team next year again-we are only losing a few due to age.
It has been a great season-already looking forward to next year.

Back to Back Season Soccer Champs

Chloe's Soccer Team 'United' finished up another undefeated season. That is back to back season's of being undefeated. This group of girls is awesome and they have some great coaches. I can't believe how far Chloe has come in a year. We are super glad Chloe made the switch to be on this team-the last year has been a good one. There are some big changes coming for this team over the next few months. We are both excited and nervous to see what happens. The saddest part is that they will have to change their team name as they are being forced to join one of the Club Teams. They will play one more tournament, the Summer Games, as United before this happens.

Mothers Day

For Mother's Day I saw these cute cards on Pinterest. I wanted to make them to send to Grandma's. It took a few attempts, but we finally got Bryce to hold his heart the right way.

I had a nice Mother's Day. Landon didn't have meetings in the morning so I was able to sleep in a little bit and him and the kids brought me breakfast in bed. They gave me some thoughtful gifts including redoing my quilting frames (I had been banned from the garage for a few days). Chloe also gave me a nice portable toilet for camping-haha!

In church the gave out the best Mother's Day treat ever. Each women in the ward received 4 mini sugar cookies from The Sugar Cookie (a local bakery in St. George).
After church we went out to my Grandmas for dinner. It was delicious and we enjoyed out time chatting and eating. Tanner made us mini cheesecakes for dessert.
