Our Memorial Day Weekend was pretty wet and cold, but overall I think we still had quite a bit of fun. Our plan was to go camp from Friday through Monday at Mandersfield with my Sister Mandy and her family.
Before we went Chloe and I made these cute Pinterest inspired shirts for her and Saydee. Chloe absolutely loves camping so this shirt was perfect for you. I have to say I am pretty impressed with how they turned out.
We got to our campsite Friday afternoon. The clouds were looming and it was starting to rain a bit so we hurried and got the tent setup-Bryce was excited to test out the sleeping bags-even though he doesn't look like it in this picture.
It was pretty cold so the next item of business was to get the fire going and warm up.
Then of course the rain started. So we spent a lot of time hanging out in the trailer and tent.
Bryce and Hanxton even took a nice little nap.
Once the rain started it never really stopped the girls didn't let it slow them down too much though and they still have fun running around outside and even attempted to do a little fishing.
Bryce and Tanner preferred to spend time in the tent where it was dry. They read some books and did a little WWF wrestling.
It started to rain harder and then actually began snowing-the girls finally gave it up and came in the tent for some games. Landon cooked everyone some s'mores and delivered them right to the tent door.
It rained/snowed all through the night in the morning when we looked out the window there was snow on the ground. Luckily we stayed dry and somewhat warm.
That morning it continued to rain...
Thankfully we were able to eat breakfast in the trailer.
It didn't look like the rain would be letting up anytime soon so we decided to drive into the town of Beaver to give us something to do and also eat some lunch at the local El Bambi Café.
After lunch it was still raining and after looking at the weather report it seemed that would be the case for the rest of the weekend. No Good!!! We had a choice to make-tough it out or pack it up. We finally decided to pack up and go to Fillmore for the rest of the weekend. The worst part was trying to pack everything back into the truck while it was raining and muddy-not fun!!!
On the way home Mandy and Cody's trailer lost and axel just before Kanosh-so that was a project that kept Cody and Landon busy for the next few days.
We made the most of the rest of our weekend, and still tried to do a lot of our planned camping activities. One night we cooked our tinfoil dinners. Another afternoon we went to Cody and Mandy's and we made dutch oven dinner. The kids rode the atv's around the yard. Bryce thought that was the best thing ever and cried when it was time to get off.
The kids wanted to play night games, so we went and dropped them off for a round of fugitive-not long after we dropped them off it got dark and then started to rain. We searched and searched and never found one of them. We were starting to get a little bit worried, but about an hour and a half later they all started to trickle in to home base-having evaded us the whole time. Apparently we forgot to set boundaries and they had been a whole country mile getting around us and back home. They were all soaking wet and cold, but glad that we hadn't spotted them.
I took the kids up to the cemetery to visit Grandpa Marshall and also Little Huxley's graves.
And of course what would a campout be without S'mores.
We really did have a fun weekend despite the not so good weather. Tanner and Chloe ended up staying in Fillmore when we left as we would be turning around and heading back in just a few days.
Bryce was sad to leave behind Brother and Sister, but him and Beckett took a nice long nap almost the whole way home.
After we got home there was a lot of cleaning up to do with all of our wet, muddy camping stuff-in fact I am still working on it three days later. Bryce's favorite part of that night though was getting to hold the flag.
