Fun Day turns Out in DISASTER!

Last Tuesday started out great the day was overcast keeping the temperature in the low 90's instead of the 100's. We went to the splash pad in the town center with some friends and cousins and we were the only ones there. That never happens usually it so crowed. The kids had a blast running around and playing. I didn't get any pictures until it was time to go.
After the splash pad Tiffanie and I brought our kids to my house. We fed them some lunch and gave them an ice cream cone. Then we started a movie for them. While they were watching the movie we went in my room Tiffanie was working on the computer and I was working on cutting some quilting squares. Then all of a sudden the rotary blade slipped and went right through my index finger on the left hand. We both saw the piece fly and both knew we were headed to the ER. I grabbed a bathroom towel and we headed for Tiffanie's van. Out in the front room Bryce had fallen asleep. I quickly called a neighbor who was home and she came to sit with all the kids while Tiff drove me to the ER. On the way I called Landon and he met us there.

In the ER they first had to give me a shot in my finger and numb it. Then they looked at the damage and took x-rays. I took off a pretty big chunk but it was mostly the flesh and nerves on the end...no bone or vein. They could not stitch it back on. The wrapped it up and sent me home with some pain meds and an appointment to meet with a specialist on Friday.
Friday we met with the specialist. He said he had never had an extreme quilter in before and he gave me the nick name of the red bull quilter. He determined the best thing to do for my finger would be just to let it kind of grow over-it will be a little deformed but he is thinking that it won't be too bad. However, it is going to take a long time to heal and be very painful for awhile. UGH-I hate waiting and being patient-it's so hard not to be able to do the things I want to do. I guess this will be a lesson in patience for me.
Thankfully I have had lots of people take care of me this week.
Landon-took time off work everyday, drove the kids to school, and has taken on a lot of my normal responsibilities.
My Neighbor Ashlie-watched the kids while I was at the ER and did Chloe's hair for school pictures.
My Sister Sandi-brought us Pizza one night and helped a lot with Bryce.
My Sister Tiffanie helped get dinner in the crockpot, brought me yummy smoothies, and hung out.
My Grandma Angie made us dinner.
And lots of other people who called and checked on me everyday. I am lucky to have so much love and support.
