Valentine's Day

Bryce and I had fun making Valentines to hand out to his class and mine. We also made a couple for the cousins.
Bryce is still way into hot-wheels so we decided to go with that and make hot-wheels valentines. We found a cute tag on Etsy which we printed and stapled to the top of a hot-wheel car. Bryce wrote from Bryce on each one. The finished product was awesome and he was excited to hand them out to his classmates.

For my class and the cousins we made these cute "Bugs and Kisses Valentines". Also another find on Etsy.

On Valentines Day we each of the kids received a small Valentine treat and Landon and I each got each other something small. Mine were some treat filled balloon creations and chocolate covered strawberries. Landon got the New Johnny English DVD and a card.

The Young Women 'hearted' the yard for Chloe
Valentines Day we traveled to Cedar for the last basketball game of the season. Chloe wasn't playing cause she had a concussion-more to come on that in another post. But it was important for her to be there, plus we took Valentine's cookies for the team and coaches and also a blanket we had made for her coaches baby. It was a bittersweet day.

After the game we had a dinner at Grandma Marshall's house. I think that was nice for her to be able to spend Valentines with someone.

Happy Birthday to Me

I turned 37 years old this week. It's hard to believe that I am getting so close to 40! My birthday was pretty low key-the kids and Landon each got me something thoughtful. One of my favorites was a fun Harry Potter sign from Tanner which I hung to the entrance of the office/nook.

The people I work with were also super nice and spoiled me with thoughtful treats and gifts. My Grandma came to town and took me to lunch and brought some chocolate covered strawberries from my Mom. It was nice to be able to see her and go to lunch we haven't been able to in a long time. It's something we used to do quite frequently.

That night we went out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse. The food was yummy and it was nice spending time with Landon and the kids.

Tanner was working and not able to go to dinner with us, so the next morning he took me and Bryce out to breakfast at The Crepery.
I'm glad I was able to spend my birthday with those I love most.
Here's to another year.

January Book Recap

I only read two books this month. It has been a little hard to get much reading in these day.
Of course I liked Tales of Beedle the Bard, as I am a huge Harry Potter fan an usually love anything related. I wanted to like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo but I just couldn't. I don't enjoy books that use the F word a lot or that have a lot of reference to violent sex acts and stuff like that and unfortunately this book had an abundance of both.

Happy 6th Birthday-Hot Wheels Edition

Bryce was so excited for his birthday. He started counting down the days right after Christmas. He would tell us everyday how many more days. I asked him if he wanted to invite some of his friends from school and he said "no just my other friends". I was like what other friends? and he said you know "Braxton, Breckon, Preslie, Hanxton, etc.." (those are all his cousins). So that's what we did we invited all his cousins, on my side, and one family friend. I thought it was so cute that that's who he wanted to invite-I'm so glad the kids are able to have cousins who live close and who they can consider their friends.

Bryce got in to hotwheels around Christmas and so that's what kind of Birthday Party he wanted to have. He watches KIDCITY on Youtube and had seen a couple of hotwheels tracks that he thought would be fun at the party. At first we thought Landon would make a race track, but Bryce wanted it to announce the winner and be a little more technical than Landon wanted to be or to spend the money on so we found one of the tracks Bryce liked on Amazon and ordered it for the party.

Since Bryce's birthday is so close to Christmas we tend to spend a little more on the party experience instead of gifts since he doesn't really need any gifts after the Holidays.

Here are the invitations we sent out for his party...

Finally Bryce's birthday arrived. He woke up early and woke Tanner and Chloe up to, so he could open the presents they promised him that morning.

He took M & M cookies to school for his birthday treat.
I checked him out of school a little bit early so we could make the birthday cake and set up before everyone arrived. Aunt Tiffanie and Great Grandma came over to help make the cake-it turned out great and Bryce was super excited to test it out.
Once Everyone got here it was time to start.
We let Bryce choose what he wanted to do first. He wanted to open presents, so everyone gathered around and that's what we did.

After opening presents it was time to play some games. We had planned 3 simple games-Pin the Wheel on the Hotwheel, Hotwheels Punch Out, and a Hotwheels Spoon Race.

Pin the Wheel on the Hotwheel.
This was one was super easy with no prep work-I ordered it on Amazon. I liked that the wheels were self sticking so that you didn't have to use tape and also the mask was just right and then you didn't have to tie a blindfold around the kids eyes. The kids had fun spinning each other around and then laughing when someone wouldn't get it close to where they were supposed too.

We had little trophy prizes that we handed out to the winners of each game.

Next up HOTWHEELS PUNCH OUT
The punch out game has been a favorite at Bryce's birthday for the past three years. Landon does a good job making it. All of the kids think it is so cool to punch a hole in the board and discover a prize. This time the prize was a hot wheel car that they could use during the race event and then take home with them. It was a big hit!

After Playing Punch Out it was time for the SPOON RACE.
This one is pretty simple. The kids each had a wooden spoon on which they had to try and balance their hot wheel car and walk from one end of the pickleball court to the other and then back. It was a little challenging for some, but they all had fun giving it a try.

After playing the games it was time for the main even THE BIG RACE. This was the race track we bought just for the party. Landon set up a bracket. Each kid would race six different times, once in each lane. Whoever was in lane one got to pull the lever to release the cars. The track would announce the winner and then we recorded it on the score board. Whoever had the most wins at the end was the grand prize winner. It was pretty fun. The kids all got into it and would each set there car in the proper lane when it was there turn and then watch in anticipation to see which car won each heat.

We also had several of Bryce's other tracks set up around the court so for those not racing at the moment they could test out one of the other tracks.

After playing games and having our big race it was time to head inside for some cake. Thanks to great grandma and Aunt Tiffanie, Bryce had the best cake ever! We sang Happy Birthday and after he blew out the candles he hit the button to have the race car go through the cake. It was pretty cool! Of course all of the kids wanted a turn or two so we spent several minutes letting everyone launch the car through the cake. Then it was finally time to eat it. It tasted as good as it looked. Bryce even had one bite ;)

After we were all partied out it was time to go out for Bryce's birthday dinner. He chose McDonald's of course-I mean where else would he choose-since that's about the only place there is something he will actually eat. My sister Mandy and her kids were staying in town for the night so they went with us. Bryce and Hanxton had the best time eating their happy meals and playing with the minion toys that came with them.

We had a fun day celebrating our little guy. So glad he is part of our family. Happy Birthday Bryce. Love You
