Quilt #5 & #6

Here is Quilt #5. I really don't think at this point I will reach 52 this year, but it will be interesting to see how many I end up making so I will keep the count going. I really love how this quilt turned out as I was sewing it I wasn't sure if I would or not. It is a rag quilt, but instead of doing the normal squares it is made of long strips. I saw the idea and pattern on Pinterest of Course. I already have the fabric to make several more this style, now if I can just find the time ;)

Quilt #6 -sadly there is no picture of. I really can't believe it! It was just a super crazy busy couple of weeks. The quilt was for Chloe's teacher for Teacher Appreciation Week. It was a Jean/Levi Quilt. I had each of the students in her class write on levi square a note for their teacher. Then I sewed them all together and added a golf themed back (Golf is one of his Favorite Things). It turned out great. Chloe said when she gave it to her teacher, he almost started crying. He is an older man, and will be retiring after this year. I really wish I had a picture, but I guess words will have to do in this case.

Baseball/Softball Season is Here

It's Spring and you know what that means. Baseball and Softball Season is here!!! Yeah!!! This also means our lives get crazy busy as the kids both have practice during the week and between 2-3 games each per week. This also means we eat less at home and have to grab stuff more on the run. Though it keeps us busy we love it! A friend sent me this cute wreath idea and I found some other examples on Pinterest and decided to attempt making my own. It took a little convincing and twisting of Landon's arm to let me drill through a few of his balls-haha, but he finally consented, and drilled them for me. I love how it turned out! It actually looks better in real life than it does in this picture. I wanted to add a little sign that said "if we're not home check the ball fields", but who has time for that. Maybe by next season that will get done.
PLAY BALL!!!

Dinosaur Dig

I hosted my first official week of Joy School. We went with the Dinosaur theme. We did lots of activities, but the highlight had to be the Fossil Dig and Frozen Dinosaur Excavation. Love these little kiddos, they are all tons of fun!

Bag Collection

Some girls like to collect purses and fancy shoes. Our Chloe girl likes to collect bags and cleats. I just thought it was funny when I saw this pile in her room the other day. One for each sport---soccer, basketball, and softball. I am so glad she has chosen to be an athlete :)

Spring Break

This year spring break for us was March 7-11 and guess what we did-We stayed home! Haha!!! Seriously though we knew it was the one week we had to have a little bit of a break before our lives went from a little bit crazy to complete chaos. During that week Tanner still had baseball practice and one ball game, and Chloe had basketball practice but other than that there was no soccer practice or games, no basketball games, no softball practice or games, no young mens, etc, so as you can see life was pretty easy for us. HAHA!
Honestly we did as little as possible this week. We did venture to the park one day with a few of our cousins.
Another day we went to see the new movie ZOOTOPIA. It ended up being me and 8 kids-gotta love it! I thought the movie was really good.
Other than that we just hung out. We actually hardly ever saw Chloe as she was getting in as much time with her friends as she possibly could before her crazy practice/game schedule started up.
Oh yeah and there was that baseball game.

National Pancake Day

Tuesday March 8 (I know that shows just how far behind I am on my blogging) was National Pancake Day. Which means that several restaurants were giving away free pancakes! Yeah!!! Even better was the fact that it just so happened to fall during Spring Break. Chloe had slept over the night before at a friends, so the boys and I headed to IHOP for some pancakes. We had a nice breakfast. Of course Bryce was too busy coloring for me to take his picture and Tanner doesn't really do pictures especially not when the entire softball team, his girlfriend included, shows up at the same restaurant-he might have been a little bit embarrassed. Yeah for free Pancakes!

Dual Survivor Birthday Party

Our cousin Kazylee celebrated her 6th birthday. She is into the show dual survivor so her parents put together a cute hike/scavenger hunt at the red cliffs. Bryce and Chloe both went and had fun.
Since Chloe was the oldest one there she had to follow "uncle" Josh and take on some of the harder climbing tasks, such as scaling up this tall rock using these hand and foot holes.
At each stop to get a new clue they got a little prize: a whistle, trail mix, water bottle, plastic snake, etc. I think Bryce's very favorite was the magnifying glass, once he got it-it took us forever to get anywhere because he wanted to be looking through it at things the whole time. HAHA!

It was fun. It's nice to have some cousins in town who we get to do fun things with now and then.
