Here is what I read in September.
They were all pretty good. I was just a tad bit disappointed with Muddy by Dean Hughes I usually love his books so much but this one just seemed to be lacking something. My favorites of the month were Racing in the Rain: My life as a Dog; and Refugee.

Ironed a Hole
Normally the shirts I wear are made out of cotton, so I wasn't even thinking about it one morning when I went to iron one of my newer shirts for work. I felt something weird as I was ironing and that's when I realized I had melted a big hole in my shirt. :( Aw man! It was one of my favorites too. Lesson learned.

On Backwards
I picked Bryce up from primary and thought he looked a bit different that's when I realized his shirt was on backwards. What?! I know I did not send him to class that way. Seriously I have no clue. HAHA
Jerky in my Bag
I got to church and looked in my bag only to find a big bag of jerky. LOL apparently Chloe thought she might get hungry and that would be a good snack. I don't think so sis-not during church. Crazy Girl!
September Softball Tourney
Chloe's softball team played in a tournament in September. It was nice that it was in St. George. It's always good to see Chloe play, but it makes it even better when you have good weather to go along with it. Chloe is at a transition stage where she can still play with her 14u team but also sometimes now plays with the 16u team. This tournament in September was a 16u tournament. That also means that it's a different coach and sometimes things are run a little bit different than in 14u. Even though she caught some the 16u coach likes her to do other things over catching so that is a bit of adjustment, but regardless she always seems to do well no matter where the put her at. That is why she is considered a utility player.

Dixie Round Up Rodeo
Per tradition we attended the Dixie Round Up Rodeo.
Chloe is all about it anytime she has a reason to put on her cowboy boots and western attire.
Bryce made it through the whole thing for the first time ever, without falling asleep or going home early. It probably helped that we kept him stocked up on his versions of nachos (tortilla chips-since he won't eat cheese). Seriously I think we probably spent $12 on chips I really need to just start bringing a bag of tortilla chips with us anywhere we go. LOL
We had fun. I'm glad we have these traditions that the kids look forward to anytime we can spend together is a good time.
Can I Please Get a Flu Shot
It's quite a strange thing but Bryce actually loves getting shots. Last year at Target if you got your flu shot there they gave you a $5 gift card Bryce thought that was great. This year we were at the pharmacy getting some medicine and they had a sign up about flu shots. Bryce read the sign and said to me I would like to get my flu shot and my gift card. So we did. Chloe wasn't very happy with her little brother-she does not like shots at all-kind of like her Mom. What a funny kid Bryce is.
Ben 10
For a few minutes Bryce was into the cartoon BEN 10. He thought he even wanted to be one of the guys for Halloween. I actually bought him a costume-which he thought was pretty awesome, but then he later ended up changing his mind and was something else for Halloween instead. Luckily I was still able to return the costume-Thanks Amazon.
Weird but True
Some of Bryce's favorite books right now are the National Geographic Weird But True books. He loves reading them and learning all the cool and interesting facts. He also especially loves reading them to anyone who will listen to him. Look out you might be in for hours of entertainment if you are willing to sit down and listen.

Snuggles
He doesn't love to be hugged and he never says I Love You. So any time I get a chance to snuggle him I do-even if it's when he's sleeping.
A Trip to the Vet
Bryce's cat Blue started acting weird. You could tell something was wrong with him. He was obviously in a lot of pain and he started getting mad if you would pet or especially try to pick him up. This was out of character. Then we noticed puss coming out of his side. We tried to doctor it a little bit at home, but it didn't seem to do any good. Bryce was very concerned about his cat. We finally gave in and took him to the vet (I never thought I would be taking a cat into the vet). The vet said he had been attacked by another animal and was really infected. The gave him a shot and some medicine and after a week or so he was pretty much back to normal except for the bald spot on his side where the vet had to shave him.

ANGER...I feel this way when
Bryce had to write about his emotions at school. I couldn't help but laugh at his response for ANGER. ANGER I FEEL THIS WAY WHEN I WAKE UP! HAHA! Me too sometimes buddy.

Body Systems
Bryce has been learning about body systems in school. He has made some fun projects like a robotic finger and a brain. He is always excited to show them off to me when he gets home.

Tomatoes
One of the things I miss most about not having my Grandma live in town any more is that we used to get together and do all sorts of bottling, and preserving. My life gets super busy and crazy but I still managed to fit in a few times this fall and get a couple of things done.
I bottled tomatoes twice. I just did small batches. One from some tomatoes Landon's mom had given me and the other with a case of them I had purchased. My kids will only eat spaghetti if I use bottled tomatoes to make the sauce. It is pretty delicious and one of our staples so I have to bottle at least one batch to make it through the following year.
I also got together with a couple of my friends and we bottled Spaghetti Sauce. It was a long process, because it had to cook down and simmer all day long-but we had lots of fun and the end result was pretty tasty.
Since I found a good deal on strawberries I decided I might as well whip up a batch of strawberry freezer jam-being that I was in the preserving mood. My sister Tiff came over and we quickly made up a couple of batches. We don't eat a lot of jam or jelly at our house, but this is the only kind we eat when we do.
Of course since I had fresh tomatoes on hand I whipped up several batches of fresh salsa. It's pretty much a staple around here. We literally go through at least one batch a week and about 3 bags of tortilla chips.
Here is the best fresh salsa recipe...
3 tomatoes
Juice of 1 Lime
1 tsp Crushed Garlic
1 tsp salt
1/2 small onion
1 jalapeno (seeded to taste)
That's it, blend it all together, and you have yourself a tasty treat.
