Precious Baby Boys

Last Tuesday my sister went into the doctor because she was having consistent contractions. She thought they would admit her and give her something to stop them, we never would have dreamed at that point about the journey our family was about to take. The doctor monitored her and checked her and at that point told her to call her husband, because they were going to get her ready to transfer to a bigger hospital. You see the babies were already to come even though she wasn't fully dialated. They had pushed down into the brirthing canal and her membranes had pushed out.
The life flighted her to Utah Valley Medical Center and a few hours later we were told that the twins had been born (24 weeks gestation-16 weeks early!). Huxley (1 lb 10 oz) and Hanxton (1 lb 9 oz). June 4, 2014.

They were so tiny and precious and just perfect-10 tiny toes and fingers-even finger and toe nails. There eyes were still sealed shut since they usually don't open them until between 27-28 weeks.
The next few days were rough. They both developed brain bleeds, which is normal in babies this small and Huxley got a tear in his lungs. Hux continued to get worse and his brain bleeds did to. On Sunday June 8 after just 4 days we said goodbye to our little guy.
Most of the family from both Cody and Mandy's side were able to be there to hold him and tell him goodbye. It was the hardest thing any of us have ever experienced. He was just such a precious soul. You could feel the spirit so strongly and many spiritual experiences happened in those short 3 hours we had to tell him goodbye.
That day Mandy was to be released from the hospital. She was so sick and yellow. We all tried to tell the doctors and nurses it wasn't a good idea-she just wasn't well. They didn't listen to us and released her anyways. That night just 5 hours after being released her husband raced her back to the hospital. She was admitted and put in the ICU-toxic staff infection which infected most of her organs was the diagnosis. Though Mandy is now doing better-she is still pretty incoherent and still has fluid on her lungs. Little Hanxton continues to fight each day. He is now just over a week old and today he had surgery on his bowels to take care of two small holes he had. We pray each day all day long that him and Mandy can both fully recover-and will continue to fight together to get well.

Summer means...

Summer means...
frequent trips to the library

and ice cream cones at Great Grandma's house!

One of my favorite times is that ride home from the library-the kids are silent in the back seat-their noses buried in a book. There is not yelling, or fighting, just reading!Sigh!Even Bryce is old enough he can now get a book when we visit the library. We love our books and are glad to have extra time during the summer to enjoy them.

Memorial Day Weekend Part 2

While in Fillmore we spent some time down at Landon's parents house as well. We ate a nice dutch oven dinner with them on Saturday night. Sunday we went to church with them and then after having dinner with my family we went back down there to to spend the rest of the day and night there.
Sunday afternoon we went out on the desert for some exploring. First stop, was the 'Hole in the Rock'. The kids all went running eager to climb into the cave-when they quickly backtracked with word that there was a snack right at the hole of the cave.
Don't worry Uncle Trevor brought his pistol for just such an instance and swiftly took care of the 'rattler'.

Kylie was brave enough to pick it up once it was dead.
I guess Landon is standing watch or something over the hole in case another snake emerges.
I wasn't sure if it was safe to go down into the cave after finding the snake and I definitely wasn't going to do it, but Landon, Trevor and all of the kids, including Bryce, boldly went in. Chloe of course was the first one down there-brave girl. I was surprised cause even Tan went down I thought for sure he would say no way to that one.
After that little adventure it was time to load up and head to the next destination-The Hieroglyphs.
The kids had fun seeing the hieroglyphs, but even funner for them was climbing the rocks and racing to the top of the hill. We fared alright as we only had one kid hanging off the edge of a cliff before we were done. Landon and Tanner rescued him pretty quickly though, so no fatalities occurred.

Best Bros....
It was a fun little adventure!!!

Memorial Day Weekend Part 1

We went to Fillmore for Memorial Day Weekend. We had a fun filled few days with all the family. Friday and Saturday night we stayed at my sister Mandy's house, we pitched tents in her yard and kind of had like a little camp-out. The kids had a blast.
Saturday we played some games-my sister Tiffanie made an obstacle course. We all enjoyed that-it got pretty competitive when it was the adults turn ;)
My Mom, Jeff, and I built a water blob for the kids to play on...I have to say it was one of the highlights-they loved it and played on it until it finally got a hole. The only one who didn't like it was Bryce-he was so not digging it.
We had previously all made flags and we brought those to represent each family. I think they turned out pretty nice.
Bryce couldn't hack it and had to take a nap during some of the activities.
We also made all of the kids these jersey shirts. They had their name on the back as well as their number in order of grand-kids. Grandma, Grandpa, and Great Grandma all got one to that said Coach Grandma or Coach Grandpa on the back.

Later that afternoon we spent several hours at the baseball field. We played a game...then when we had all worn ourselves out with that-most of us went to the motel to swim while the men stayed behind and had a home run derby-needless to say they were all sore for days after.
When we didn't have stuff going on or planned we ate and visited. The kids had fun jumping on the trampoline, shooting bow and arrows, riding the 4-wheeler, visiting Tyler and Sam's puppies, swimming at the motel (where Grandma, Great Grandma, and Aunt Sandi stayed), and sleeping on the trampoline. We also made a trip to the cemetery to visit the graves of both Landon and I's Grandpas who are buried there.

School's Out for Summer

Well it's official summer vacation is finally here. My kids official last day was yesterday, Wed. 21, 2014, although Tanner has really only gone a few hours all week. Just here and there when he felt like it, cause they weren't really doing anything and grades were final-which he knew. It wasn't worth the fight for me to send him-cause I knew as well it was pointless-I mean they weren't even taking roll.
Tanner had a great school year and has loved being at Dixie Middle School. George Washington Academy gave him a great start and foundation, but he was ready to move on. He finished off this last trimester with 6 A's and 2 B's. Overall he has had a good year, with mostly A's and just a B here or there. We were kind of worried about his anxiety with the transition to the bigger school, but he has actually done really well, and hasn't had any real problems with it. He is still pretty quite and shy, but has found a good group of boys, mostly kids from his baseball team, who he hangs out with at lunch and will periodically go to something with after school. I can't believe if but we know have an official highschooler on our hands-9th Grade WHAT?!
Chloe had a fun last week of school. No uniforms all week-Yipee. They had a talent show, field day, 4th Grade Party, and a class party. For Chloe's talent we put together a short little video of her swim meets and she took in her medals and ribbons to show. The class party was yesterday. I was able to go in and help. We served brunch. Three of us made breakfast casseroles and served those along with other breakfast foods-surprisingly the kids all ate the casseroles really well. Then Chloe's teacher handed out awards-Chloe got the "helping hands award". Her teacher said she didn't know what she would have done without Chloe to help her during the year. Chloe has loved her teacher and has done so well this year. She got straight A's this trimester and received straight A's every trimester except for the first where she got a B in once subject. I can't believe how grown up our little

girl is getting-is she really going to be in 5th grade in a few months?!

Bye Bye Binkie

So Bryce had decided, all on his own, that he is done with binkies. He just one day up and decided he wouldn't suck on one anymore. This is for the most part a good thing right ?!I don't have to take it from him later on, which I would have done anyways between 18-24 months. The only bad part about it is that I can't pop it in his mouth to keep him quiet during church or give it to him if he is really upset-which would have been nice today at nap-time or last night at bedtime-ha-ha! Oh well I really am glad that he self weaned from it cause I know that this isn't usually the case and that it can turn into quite an ordeal to get some kids to give it up.
