1 Dump Truck + 52 Kindergarteners = FUN!

The kindergarten classes have been learning about community helpers the past couple of weeks. So far they have had a firefighter, construction worker, nurse, pilot, dentist, cake maker, and best of all a DUMP TRUCK DRIVER. Yes that's right Chloe and I were finally able to convince Landon that he could handle both classes of kindergarteners. He went on Thursday to talk to her class. The kids were all so excited especially when he lifted up the bed to show them how it worked they were all jumping up and down and yelling. Chloe was so happy to have her Daddy come to her class. Chloe said her favorite people so far were the nurse and her Daddy of course!

Pinewood Derby

Tonight was the much anticipated cub scout event of the year-you guessed it the pinewood derby. Tanner picked out the design for his car and did most of the body work. Landon had to do most of the actuall cutting because it was so thin.
Let the races begin...... Tanner's car did much better than last year, he won a couple of his heats, lost one, and came in second on another. His best time was 3.23 the overall winner's best time was 3.009 and there were some that were like 3.7-3.9 so he was right in the middle on times. He did good though and had fun. He got an award for the most futuristic car.
The fans.....
They let other family members make and bring a car to race just for fun at the end while they were figuring out awards, Chloe picked to make a cool hot pink truck she had lots of fun racing it-she was the only girl to enter. Everyone thought it was so cute.

Funny things kids say....

Working at a preschool I daily hear funny things from kids, but very rarely is it something that I actually have to pause before commenting on or turn away to hide my smile or laugh.

Today as we were sitting at the table eating are lunch
"My mom got fat! Yeah she ate to much and she got really fat!"
Of course I have seen the mom and she is anything but, however either the daughter has heard her mother say something about eating to much and getting fat, or she assumes since her mom is considerably bigger than she is that she is fat."
Um that's great that your mom is such a good eater.

And the winner for last year
Once again as we were sitting at the table eating lunch
Me to student-"drink all your water". Student-"yeah because my mom said that if you drink lots of water it will make your boobs grow bigger."
haha this girl is 5 like she really needs to be worrying about that yet.

Access Denied

Yesterday I went to walk into Tanner's room and was told by the kids that my access had been denied. Why?
because I first had to scan my handprint here-to make sure it was in the database
then I had to enter the proper color sequence hereand since I failed to do this the laser located here had shot meand also the security cameras here had videotaped the whole thing.Don't you just love the imagination of kids-now wait just a few more years and Tanner will probably have the real deals not just a paper product. HA HA

Give a Day Get a Day

Disneyland has a great promotion going on this year it is called Give a Day Get a Day and what it entails is that if you give a day of service (or a few hours in some cases) they will give you a free day at one of the Disney Parks. If your planning on taking a trip to Disneyland anytime this year you might want to look into it. There are lots of opportunities and they post more daily just follow this link
http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/disneyparks/en_US/WhatWillYouCelebrate/index?name=Give-A-Day-Get-A-Disney-Day-Search

We are planning a trip to Disneyland later this year with Landon's family. So we decided to sign up. We chose to help with Project Linus-which is that you make quilts for kids who are in shelters, or in a crisis. We all helped put together a few blankets and the kids made cards to go with them which was part of the project. We finished it this week and I plan on mailing the quilts tomorrow. It was a fun project for us all and it helped teach the kids something in the process about giving to and helping others.
Landon's sisters and their families who live in Ogden have all signed up as well I think one family is putting together hygiene kits and the other two are volunteering at a Center-so it really is a worthwhile thing if you want to look into it.

A visit from Grandpa and Grandma

Over the weekend Landon's parents came down for a visit. The kids were so excited. In fact Chloe got up on Friday morning and insisted that she wasn't going to school today because Grandma Wendy was coming-she didn't realize it wasn't until later that night. I practically had to drag her out the door when it was time to leave for school.
They finally got here and the kids were happy as could be. We went to Tanner's ball game and then out to lunch at 5 Guys Burgers and Fries-upon Tanner's request. Then Chloe convinced Grandma and the rest of us to watch The Hannah Montanna Movie. Not long after that Grandpa and Grandma had to get on down the road and the kids were sad to see them go.
We had a fun weekend. Thanks for coming Grandpa and Grandma!

The End and The Begining

Well for those of you who remember last year I embarked on a small project called PROJECT 365. What it is-a picture and journal entry for every day of the year. This morning I got up early and finished it. Yep it is complete all of it except for one picture that I need to got have a stage re-inactment, because I already journel about it but was missing the picture. Can you believe it-I finished and I am very pleased with the results.
For Christmas I recieved a similiar project. It is called project life though it is a little more versatile-you can chose to do it in different ways-daily (like I did last year), monthly, or by theme or event. I am going to do it monthly-because although I loved what I did last year it was ALOT of work, and I figure if I do it monthly it won't only not be as much work, but the kit should last me 4-5 years instead of one. So wish me luck as I embark on another endeaver. I got the title page down all except the year and I plan to add that today.

Happy New Year-A Little Late

Well we had our annual Family New Year's Bash. Pretty low key as far as new years bash's go but still fun to hand out with the fam. We ate yummy food and even better desert-ice cream pie from Cold Stone-SOOOOO Good! We played some games and then watched a movie. After the party the kids stayed to have a sleepover with Grandma. They had lots of fun and even got some nail painting in-per Chloe's request. When I asked Tanner if he wanted to stay over he said "well what are we going to do just paint nails and stuff? I don't think he was going to stay if it was going to be a total girls night. haha.
Then on Saturday Landon, Tanner and my Dad went ice fishing. The had fun but came back empty handed. My dad being a ham dreaming that he had one on his line that big. LOL(FYI Grandpa Dave they want to go with you one weekend.)
While they were fishing Chloe, my mom, grandma, and I went to the movies. Chloe has been wanting to see Alvin and the Chipmunks the Squeakquel and She LOVED it. We had fun ringing in the new year.

Karaoke with Aunt Sandi

Yesterday my sister Sandi stopped by for awhile. The kids love it when she comes, which isn't very often-guilt trip. The kids had to show off there new stuff from Santa and Licorice had to whine at her a little bit. She raced Tanner in Mario Kart and she sang some Karaoke with Chloe. Chloe was just amazed! She sat on the couch the whole time Sandi was singing and just looked at her in awe with a big smile pasted on her face. It was so cute. Of course Sandi was singing and doing moves along with the songs, so I'm expecting Chloe to be busting a few new dance moves now that she has seen her idle in action.

This one's for Grandpa

Well we haven't been doing to much around here the last few weeks and Grandpa Dave has been complaining about the lack of blog updates so I decided I had better snap a few pictures today and make a new post.

Tanner usually has his friend Rohun over on Fridays or sometimes he goes to Rohun's house. They spend most of the time in front of the Wii. Sometimes Chloe and her friends take a break to watch them. I don't know it they are more fascinated with the game itself or with the boys. I figure letting them play the wii for a long period on Fridays can't be hurting them much when they are both pulling straight A's and are top of the class, with a very challenging curriculm at that. So I let them have there Fridays as the one day when I don't really limit the amount of time spent on electronics.
Chloe is just full of energy and keeps us on our toes. She had a new friend move in across the street so now she has three in the neighborhood. SO it seems she always wants to play. Somedays I feel like we live in a mad house. She likes to have picnics, sing to Michael Jackson and Hannah Montana, and play dress up. The dress up always doesn't go over to well when she has her friend Kyler over so sometimes he ends up playing the wii or something with Tanner which is fine by Tanner. I had to tell her no more playing until after all her homework was done since it was getting to be such a fight, and we have had to ground her a few times for being sassy and hitting-imagine that- which she doesn't like at all.

That's my girl!
Silly

Cute!
