Chloe's last Basketball Game and Team Party

A few weeks ago Chloe had her last basketball game of the season. Her team lost something to 3. Chloe's foul shot and one other basket were the only points scored. They played really good-especially on Defense they have really gotten it down. The only thing was that the other teams shots were going in and ours just weren't-it wasn't our day I guess.
The girls had fun though and that's what counts.

We took a team picture after the game. One of my players presented me with a lei made out of candy.
 Chloe with her trophy-everyone's a winner :)
That Friday we had a little team party.
My Grandma helped me make these cupcakes.
At the party we played Speed and Basketball Freeze Tag, which we kind of made up on the fly, but it turned out being super fun.
We had pizza, Gatorade, and cupcakes to eat.
I had painted these frames and put a team picture in them. We then had each girl sign them. They turned out cute and the girls really liked them.
I was surprised by how many of the girls brought me little notes with treats and gift-cards. It was a fun season and I really enjoyed coaching these girls. I love basketball!!!

New Wheels

(I am way behind on my blog, as our house has been a construction zone the last few weeks, so bare with me as I try to catch up.)

A few weeks ago Landon bought a new truck. I am so happy he was finally able to upgrade. He has sacrificed driving older and smaller vehicles for our whole marriage, so it in nice that he was finally able to get a nice truck. It is also good because we now have two vehicles that the whole family can fit in. And honestly the kids like riding in the truck better because it has more room :)

Tanner School Projects

Tanner had a couple of projects he had to do for school. The first one...he had to build a bridge completely out of toothpicks using only regular elmers glue. It had certain specifications like it couldn't be wider than 3 inches or thicker than 2, it had to be able to span an 11" gap, and have a hot-wheels car drive across it. Then at school they broke them by seeing how much weight it could hold. It was a little harder than you would think, but he got one built.
Then second project was for his honors math class. They had to chose a normal everyday object and make it to scale either 10x bigger or smaller than it was. Tanner chose a pack of gum. Luckily he has a great Dad who gave him quite a bit of help and guidance on this project. It turned out really well...and he got 100%. His teacher also asked to keep his as a demonstration for the next year.
Glad those projects are both out of the way-of course they were both due within a day of each other ;)

Tanner's Last Basketball Game of the Season

Man I am getting behind on my blog-it could be the fact that the house is completely tore apart as we do some remodeling, but more on that later.

Anyways two weeks ago Tanner played his last basketball on the season. He actually had one last week but wasn't able to play cause he had a baseball tournament. Then he has one this Saturday but won't be able to play because we will be out of town.

Tanner played a great game...It was really close I think in the end they ended up losing by a few points or maybe they won haha I can't remember it was back and forth the whole time though. As we sat watching him Landon and I discussed how much Tanner had grown that season-in more ways than one. For one he has actually physically grown he is now bigger than me, if you haven't seen him for awhile you will be amazed the next time you do, but he also has grown a lot maturity wise as well. The way he carries himself of the court and just acts there is a huge difference. He is also confident when he is out there and not the shy timid little boy he used to be when playing basketball. It was a good year for him, and he really enjoyed playing this season. I guess we will see what happens next year as he will be old enough to try out for the freshmen team-YIKES that is a scary thought.

Basketball Chloe

Chloe had her second to last basketball game last week. Here is her cute team :) These girls are a really cute group of girls.
Bryce loves watching the basketball happenings...
and look at how good he is getting at walking!
The team getting warmed up...
Time-Out...
Chloe on Defense...
Passing the Ball in...
More D (She is really good at defense)
Chloe and Mom aka coach
Chloe and Brydee-the love it when they can be on the same team
It was a good game. Chloe's team won and Chloe score several baskets as well as made some really good moves and plays. She is getting really good at knowing when to drive it, when to pass it, or when to shoot a 3 LOL. I usually have her or another girl named Sadee play point because they have the best ball handling skills and think quickly about what to do with the ball, and it's not just because she is my daughter, she really is good!

Grafton Ghost-town

On the way home from Zions Tanner suggested we visit the Grafton Ghost-town. None of us had ever been so we decided why not? It was only a little ways off the beaten trail. It was kind of a cool little ghost town...there was also a little cemetery. The interesting thing about the cemetery was there were about 13 people burried in it and all of them died in 1866, from things like Indian attacks, diphtheria, and even a couple died by falling off of their swing. It was an interesting place to visit and the kids had fun exploring.
Here is a bit of interesting info on the town of Grafton...
Grafton was first settled in 1859 one mile below its present town site. In January of 1862 the town was completely washed away by a flood. The people rebuilt the town a mile further up stream at its present site. By 1864 about 28 families lived here. There were many log houses, a post office, church, school and community hall. The town was deserted in 1866 due to Indian attacks. The people moved back in 1868. By 1920 only 3 families still lived here. Grafton has had parts of several movies shot here. One movie that was partly shot here was Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

ZIONS

Last Monday was Presidents Day. Landon had the day off and we didn't really have anything else on our schedules, so we decided to take a little trip to Zions National Park. We didn't realize it was a FREE park weekend, so that made it even better because we got into the park for free. Chloe was so excited she had never been to Zions before.
The first trail we went on was to the Weeping Rock...
It was pretty cool. There was a lot of water coming down at the top we felt like we were in a rainstorm.
After that we had a little picnic and the went on the Riverside Walk-which is the trail that leads to the narrows. It is a leisurely scenic trail. We saw some squirrels and deer along the way. Bryce was pretty excited about that. On this trail Bryce took a nice little nap-the hiking backpack really came in handy.

Then it was onto the emerald pools, we visited all three lower, middle, and upper. It was pretty fun, although getting to the last pool was just a little bit strenuous. And of course my camera died right before we got to it so there are no pictures of the upper pool :(
After hiking to the pools we were all kind of tired so we visited the gift shop and then drove up to the tunnels.

We had a fun time at the park and hope to go back again sometime during the summer. Bryce was a really good little trooper and didn't get upset or cranky even though he was in the carrier or a car-seat for most of the day.
