Last Tuesday we had a double header. We thought it was the last two games of the season, but we got a text later that week asking us to play one more game-so of course we did.
Anyways back to last week a double header on Tuesday. First games started at 5:30 or at least it was supposed to, but it started late and so did the one at 7:30-so we ended up being at the ball field until almost 10:00 at night. Pretty late night for a school night and for our little Bryce. Chloe's team ended up losing both games-both close and hard fought though and lots of fun to watch. I think Chloe got up to bat 5 times that night and she hit every single time and got on base every time but one of those times. I think she walked one other time. The past few weeks her hitting has been super impressive. It's like suddenly things have clicked in that area and she just knows how to hit. Although she was hitting really well-Chloe was pretty miserable for the entire time we were there. Her eye was so red and swollen and just hurting her. It was watering and she was having a hard time seeing. In fact at one point Landon took her out as catcher and had her play short stop instead cause she was struggling with it so much. I asked her if she needed to sit out for an inning, but of course she declined-she is a tough girl! I guess at recess that day she had gotten dirt in it and scratched it up. (I took her into the eye doctor the next morning cause when she woke up in the morning it was still swollen and red and full of gunk. The diagnosis was that it was scratched up but healing plus she was having some allergies on top of that so it was making it worse. The Eye Doc gave her some eye drops and by the next day she had greatly improved. We were glad to get the call to play one more game that way Chloe would get to play her last game of the season while feeling better.)
Watch this sick move-Landon has been trying to get Chloe to hold her bat out for a bunt and then pull it back all year and she finally did.
Chloe was not in the mood for any pictures that night because of her eye.
We are so lucky that my Grandma comes to almost all of Chloe's games-it is awesome to have her there plus it is really helpful for Bryce because she always keeps him entertained and fed. She bought him some pop-rocks and he came up to the fence to show me-he was so excited. He said "look Mom they go pop, pop, pop in my mouth". A little bit later he fell asleep on Grandma's lap I brought him into the dug out and laid him down. He slept until is was time to go home. The girls could not believe he could sleep through all of the cheers and other noise. He even slept through one mitt accidently being tossed on him. Such a trooper.
We were in charge of the treats-we made these fun "baseball/softball" themed goody bags. Complete with Gatorade, sunflower seeds, and a cute softball necklace that I made for each of the girls by spray painting a washer.
