37 weeks old

We have decided Bryce has been crawling for a few weeks now...Crawling is defined as any form of prone progression, any way of moving in which the tummy is toward the floor. In fact, in one of her many studies on crawling babies, Karen Adolph, PhD, associate professor of psychology at New York University, observed 25 unique combinations of body parts used to propel a baby forward. Bryce usually does the commando crawl where he pulls himself forward with his arms, the inchworm, or he sometimes does like a one leg type crawl. However, most recently he has resorted to bottom scooting and this has become his preferred method of moving around. He looks just like a little monkey scooting on his bottom across the floor and pushing himself with his arms as he goes-you would be amazed at how quickly he gets around in this way! It is funny to watch-neither of our other kids did this. We think he is kind of adapting to the hardwood floors which make it harder to crawl on than carpet cause they are slick and you can't get very good traction. Plus he has always preferred to be sitting or standing rather than laying so that is another reason we think he does the scoot. Anyhow he is now fully mobile and we have to constantly be on guard because he is into everything.

Great Invention

Chloe and I love pomegranates but they are so hard to peel, and so messy to eat. Not anymore-behold this great new invention. Seriously though sometimes you wonder if things like this really work or if they are just a farce. My Grandma bought one of these and we tested it out-after seeing it in action I went and bought one for myself. Now Chloe and I can enjoy pomegranates whenever we want-for snacks, in lunches, whenever and eat them by the spoon full instead of a few seeds at a time :)

Ruined Plans but Still a FUN Weekend.

For School Chloe has to do a big project on San Juan County. So awhile back we made plans to travel to a few of the spots in her county over General Conference weekend. Are plan was to go to the four corners and the Grand Canyon both which have a part of them that resides in San Juan County. We had a motel and campsite reserved. Then the week of our trip the Governments shuts down and with it so do our plans. We were hopeful that it might be opened by the time Friday rolled around, but as Thursday came we realized that probably wasn't going to happen so we canceled our motel and good thing we did, because the government is still shut down. Chloe was so sad about the whole thing but we are hoping to be able to try and go again in February before her project is due.

We tried to make the most of our now Stay-Cation. We went to Chloe's soccer game and watched General Conference. We spent some time at my Grandma's having lunch one day and breakfast the next in between washing batches of laundry (our dryer is out and we are waiting for the part to fix it). The kids had fun playing with Sam who was staying at Grandma's house for a few days. We also went out for ice-cream Saturday after the priesthood session of conference.

We decided that Sunday we would take a little drive while we listened to conference and kind of have a picnic and just hang out. We drove up to Kolob Reservoir. The ride was very pretty. The kids love being in the great outdoors. I bought Bryce a hiking backpack on the online yard-sale sight awhile back in anticipation of our trip and it ended up coming in handy for this little outing. He was happy as a clam letting his brother, who insisted on carrying him, pack him around. We walked a little, ate lunch, and threw the football around a bit before we headed home. We had a little scare on the way home as we first saw two cars on the mountain roads that had been in a head on. We passed on by as we could see they had it under control as we went along we were kind of letting Bryce be up out of his seat because we were on dirt back roads in the mountains and were just kind of taking it slow and easy but a little bit pass the wreck I had a feeling that he needed to be buckled in. We got him strapped in and minutes after a truck with some kind of drunken idiots came around a turn going way to fast, lost control, and came inches away from slamming into us, if we wouldn't have stopped to buckle Bryce in when we did the chances of them hitting us and him being injured would have been almost imminent. We were all so glad that I listened to that prompting to buckle in our little guy. We enjoyed the rest of the drive home while listening to the last session of conference.

Racking up the Goals

Woot! Woot! Chloe's team had another win this week. The score was 6 to 3. They once again did a great job. Chloe had 3 goals, one of them on defense, and 2 assists. She is so good at reading where the ball is going or needs to go. I usually stay at practice and watch cause it is just easier to get Bryce out once for an hour than to load him up twice to go back and forth to get her. I was impressed to see Chloe putting into action some of the skills her coach has been teaching her. One of them being instead of stopping the ball when it comes to you to instead turn and run with it.

We love watching her play soccer and have been super happy with the KICKS league. The coach is great and the umpires do an outstanding job with the games. 

36 weeks old

He is much happier in these pictures than the week before. What a fun boy. He is really close to crawling but so far he only does like an army crawl and a caterpillar type move not an actual crawl. He also has learned how to go forward and backward and side to side in his walker. He will follow whoever he can around in it. Another accomplishment is that he can be laying down and get into a sitting position from there on his own now. His head is constantly banged up or scratched because he just tries to stand up to everything and also grab hold of anything he possibly can. His top two teeth are finally actually coming in-one of them has broke through the skin so he has been a little bit fussy and not really eating well, but all in all he's doing alright. 

Sleeping Babies

Sometimes when I'm tending I get lucky like this but it doesn't happen often :) love those few minutes when it does though I seem to get so much done or be able to enjoy a little bit of me time.

Soccer Game 9/28/13

 Chloe's team finally pulled off a win. They won 5-1 and Chloe scored 1 goal. I was so impressed watching the girls play this game compared to the first few. They were all playing in their positions and even making passes and stuff. They worked so hard.

 My Mom was in town and her and my Grandma came to watch the game. During the game she was sharing her drink with Bryce. The funny thing is that he actually knew how to suck out of the straw. HMMM that's weird I wonder how he picked up on that so quickly I really don't think I've ever tried to have him drink from a straw before.
