Yard Sale
On Saturday we had our annual yard sale.
I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out. We had one every year and it seems like last year it wasn't that great. The day started out looking like the weather was maybe going to give us a problem but it turned out okay. We also didn't put an add in the paper because they have really raised their prices at the spectrum, so we were really wondering how it was going to do. Well we shouldn't have worried because it turned out great
I hung up signs at 6:30 our first customers arrived right at 7:00 as we were still putting stuff out and from there on out until 12:00 when we shut the doors it was crazy busy. More than once we had people lined up out the garage waiting to pay.
Chloe and Saydee sold cookies, muffins, and o.j.. They sold out pretty quickly and each made $6. Tanner kept track of everything he had in there and if he saw someone walking up to pay with something that was his he would make sure that we paid him after they had paid.

We didn't have anything big in like furniture and we made about $325. Not bad for one morning. I think the economy had a lot to do with how well we did, because more people are probably shopping at yard sales right now. So if your thinking of having one it would probably be a good time.
Yard Sale Tips
Advertise with Bright Signs
Price Everything
Sort Stuff (exp. kids clothes on one table, kitchen stuff on anther, etc)
Mark everything 1/2 and hour before you close
Free Stuff
I went to Wal-Greens bright and early this morning to get a few things, because they seem to sale out quicker than everywhere else with their coupon deals.
I bought a Blood Glucose Monitor (for my Grandma) it was free after using the coupon that was in last weeks paper for one, plus I got a $5 register rewards.
I then bought 2 tubes of Neosoporin and 1 box of bandaids. I used my $5 register reward, and $1 off coupon on each neosporin and the box of bandaids. (Oh yeah I had to buy a small candy for Chloe because I had 4 coupons and only 3 items.) I paid $4.03. I then got a $4 register reward.
So pretty much the complete purchase was free..
When I got off work I decided to keep the freebies coming so I went to KFC for my free piece of their new grilled chicken. (you could choose a leg or a thigh). I bought a biscuit and a glass of water to go with it for a grand total of .63. Not bad for lunch.

Bolt the Wonder Car
Well tonight it was our ward springtime party. We went to the park for some dinner and some fun activities including a bounce house, egg bust, and a pinewood derby race. Not to many people made a car Ithought a lot more would have entered with the no rules contest and all. Landon made his though Bolt the wonder car (can you see the resemblence). It won most of the races it ran in. Though he did get beat by one of the scouts whose car was actually derby regulations and our neighbor Jeff Davey a few doors down a couple times. And nobody could win when they raced the car with the motor. I think they had fun though I swear they ran those races about 100 times and the kids had fun with their friends.

Blue and Gold Banquet
We dinned on hot dogs, chips, and cake from Costco. We had a nice turn out and Tanner recieved another silver arrow.
After we got home Tanner threw up. I think it was a combination of being out in the hot sun, then wolfing down hot dogs, and running around like crazy with the other boys. He felt 100% better by morning.

Royal Target
Royal Target by Traci Hunter Abramson.
This book was a fun and easy read. It is well written so the story flows really smoothly so it is easy to get through it quickly. It has a little suspense and a little romance making it a good story with a happy ending.
My Rating 4 out of 5 stars and would say definantely check it out.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
Last night we rented the Boy in the Striped Pajamas. I had recently read the book, and had been wanting to see this movie.
I felt that the movie did a very good job portraying the story in this book. The story is about two young boys during Hitlers time one is a Natzi soldiers son the other is a Jew in a concentration camp. I won't say more because I don't want to give it away.
I will say this though this is a movie everyone should see. Read the book as well. I wouldn't recommend it for young kids though it doesn't show blood and guts but is is disturbing in parts if they are old enough to understand what is going on.

Slathbogs Gold
Slathbogs Gold is the latest book I have read. It is actually a Young Adult novel. I got it for my son to read, but I decided it looked interesting and read it when he had finished.
If you are into fantasy at all this book is great. It brings lots of new characters and elements of the fantasy world alive. I really got into it. In fact I spent and hour and a half finishing reading it this morning before I got out of bed.
The good news it is the first in a series.
I would recommend that you check this one out.

Kittens!
Chloe is a little more excited about the whole thing than Tanner I think. She can't wait to see them and she always is holding one of them. The mother cat is very patient with her antics.
Yesterday when I got home from my training Chloe came running up to me with one of the bags for her toy stuffed animals yelling kittens kittens I thought she wanted to go outside and see them, but much to my dismay there were actually two of the kittens in the bag. Yikes! I made her take them right back out to there mother. I don't think Brenda realized what she was up to.

(So Taryn these kittens should be good and ready to be mauled by Dustin when he gets his, I'm sure Chloe will make sure of that.)
Right now I think they kind of resemble rats, but I'm sure they will get cuter as they get bigger.
Company
Then everyone joined Landon at baseball practice while I went to a training for work. They said there were only two kids crying during practice so it seemed to go well.
We then went out to dinner at Pirate Island Pizza. The kids had fun and they all ate surprisingly well they must have been starving after all that swimming.
After that it was time to get the kids to sleep. After a little jumping on the bed and one bumped head it was finally accomplished, but with very sleepy kids this morning. In fact Chloe is catching up on here beauty rest right now as I type.
EASTER
This first picture is of Chloe after her Easter party at school on Thurs. They had lots of fun making bunny hats, having an egg hunt, and playing fun games.
On Friday we headed to Flowell to Landon's Dad and Mom's his sister Taryn and her family were there as well. The kids decorated eggs on Friday night they had lots of fun. Chloe's hand were dyed green for a couple of days though.

Saturday morning the kids got their Easter baskets and hunted for eggs. I think they were all happy with what they found. It was kind of cold so we ate lunch at home and celebrated Landon's Birthday with the traditional bunny cake. We tried to go out to the sand hill later on but as soon as we got out there is started to rain and so we packed up and headed back to the house. On the way I had a talk with Tanner about the easter bunny. He had heard Landon and I talking and also kids had been saying stuff at school so I thought he was starting to figure it out anyways, so I told him he wasn't real it was so sad because he look at me with tears in his eyes( I could tell he was trying no to cry) and said so Santa isn't either. Oh I hope I never have to do that again for a long long time it just about broke my heart. We had a good talk and I hope he will be okay.
Overall we had a good weekend though and were glad we got to spend time with some of the family.

The kids looked so nice on Sunday morning in there Easter clothes.

Happy Day!
I am so happy to finally have my computer back. It has been gone for 4 days. We took it into Staples for a Tune Up and since it was Free with the promotion they have going on they were way backed up. It is so crazy to think about how much we need computers in our lives (at least I do) a couple of years ago it wouldn't have mattered much, but now I am constantly on it doing one thing or the other (email, blogging, scrapbook & picture organization, finances, paying bills, and doing the coupon thing). I am just so glad to finally have it back it has been a very long 4 days.
